No one in the game can use teamchat

comp game on anubis and no one in the match could use teamchat. said that we were the only ones in voice even though we weren’t and group still worked.

I have a similar issue but I have it with group chat.

Just encountered the same problem. First noticed my pust-to-talk (PTT) button wasn’t working (no sound effect or on-screen icon when pressed). Was in a comp match, and was also surprised no one else was talking.

In my case, it also said that I was the only player in team chat.

Tried the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Disconnected from Team-chat, then rejoined.
  • Changed settings to open mic.
  • Changed back to PTT.
  • Clicking mute/unmute in social screen.
  • Joining another game (tried QP and arcade)
  • Restarted game client.

None of these solved the problem.
Then messaged a friend who was also playing, and confirmed she was also having problems with team chat.

Also note: team chat had worked in the previous game (same client session).

EDIT: It appears the problem is intermittent. I later joined a game without any comm problems, only to have the issue resume in future games.

same fam! it costed me my masters! my teams comms jacked up enemy teams didnt they ran dive and we couldnt communicate to stop them. Wonderful Blizzard doesnt seem to be in a rush to fix it either! its asking climbing a disaster. IM afraid to even comp atm.

Same! Wanted to run some comp tonight, but I’m not playing comp if I can’t communicate!

yeah master games no comp = Ez loss.

yeah. i just lost a bunch of SR because of it. i refuse to play until its fixed

Yup, broken here too.

We did find one really bad workaround that sometimes works, but of course EVERYONE needs to do it. :-/

  1. Join group chat (yes, you also have to be in one)
  2. Wait like ~10 seconds for the group chat join ack message
  3. Rejoin team chat
  4. Again, wait like ~10 seconds for the join message

good to know… at least if everyone is in groups its possible to work around.

how does this even happen jeff must be real dumb if he is not able to figuire out how to fix one of the main core aspects of his game please get on it jeff

I dont even think Jeff knows its going on yet to be honest… he’s not exactly on top of fixing things in his game… I give it about 2 months till its fixed… thats about how long it takes him and his team usually.

Still broken for us today, and it’s a couple of patches in. Seems to be happening less often, at least.

I’m more surprised than upset, honestly. I know it normally takes many moons for the dev team to notice and fix issues, but I would have guessed that the “Can play Overwatch as a team” functionality would have gotten more attention. Especially with their recent-ish focus on reducing salt and poor player experiences in games.
