No one can tank properly

Ive never seen so many people feed in my games as a tank
I dont expect anybody to be so good at the game at launch but jesus
Nobody knows how to play this role…

Heyo. Fellow tank.

The best reason I can figure is because word got out that tanks would feel more like mini-bosses, so all of these DPS mains who are used to hiding in corners and eventually pressing Q after their team is dead don’t know what to do with that health pool.

It’s A LOT different tanking in OW2 compared to OW1. Blizzard has been making tanks less protective and more all-out-close-range-brawler-DPS, so it’s possible your teammates are tanking in the way they SHOULD be in the new game, it just looks like feeding because it probably would be in OW1.

Tanking is gone, you are a door kicker now.

what does this mean, just going around kicking doors?

It’s almost as if turning them into unstoppable fat dps have convinced players to ignore helping their team to go out for kills instead. Who could have possibly foreseen this?

Then play tank! So tired of people whine when they can do it them selves

Might not be feeding, team might not be pushing with them, it took like a week in the beta for the tanks and everyone else to figure this out. Everyone that played ow1 style of standing back and holding an area waiting for abilities losses games. Its why junkerqueen ended up being the main tank used in beta, with orisa a close second i think. Their face tank value is through the roof when played properly.

It’s because the solo tank is attracting a lot of new tanks for some reason. Maybe they see them as op dps or something, but OG tanks like myself still go it. It is concerning for the role though… when I’m not playing tank it’s just shocking how bad some people are at it. Hopefully they will move back to dps when they notice how bad they are at tanking lol. I miss my 2 minute tank queues.

I am also playing tank but i don’t play only tank …
But when you’re a dps or healer tank don’t care anymore, all they want now is doing kills and flanking letting the team dealing with the enemy tank or something else

No, she was used because she was absurdly overpowered because of her shout. It gave 100 overhealth that lasted 5 seconds, had a wide radius of effect, and was on a 11 second cooldown. The net result is that teams that had her had fewer deaths per match than any other tank despite not having an active mitigation ability like DM or a shield. She also had the highest non-mirrored win rate of all tanks. That is why she was nerfed before release.

Orisa on the other hand…was bad, just bad. Teammates died a lot and her win rate was the lowest.

In OW1 most of the team would stay together which made it easier for the tanks to defend them. Maps in OW2 encourage team splitting, especially the push maps. Most tanks do not have the abilities to help a spread out team. That style of play requires coordination for the tank to not degenerate into fat dps mode. Right now that level of coordination doesn’t really exist in OW2; maybe in a couple of weeks when the newest wears off, people will play to win again.

You talking about the new role, T… Flanker?

The new and beefier versions of the DPS role that abandons all sorts of teamwork and charges in headstrong to enemy lines.

Quoted for emphasis.

It seems like most players aren’t quite sure how she is supposed to be played yet. Even I’m having trouble trying to work her. She’s not a brawl-tank, and playing her like that is bad strategy.

Exact opposite problem for me. I’ve only been in QP, but the tanks seem scared to engage lol. At least I can take off angles for myself now

i start off as tank and if things go to plan after i get my potg with my girl i switch to DPS mode

Yeah the new maps have a lot of options. Heck even as moira if I get sick of nobody in the team helping to peel flankers, it’s possible to quickly flank around a take out an enemy support (or two). It’s so easy sometimes I wonder why the dps in the team aren’t trying. Probably having too much fun pumping lead into a high HP enemy tank getting heals spammed. If that’s fun to do occasionally as a off-support, I can certainly see why everyone else would be doing it too.

Had a match as a Reinhart.

You gotta have a plan of advancement now.

You can’t just sit there, soaking damage and waiting for DPS to do their jobs. You gotta throw some FireStrikes and wait for that one enemy to lose patience and attempt to flank your shield and you pin them.

You never retreat backwards all the time. Just sideways (if that makes sense)

well its been one day and tanks have received a lot of changes, of course its gonna be messy at first give people some time to adjust

I love how when someone’s new to tanking the QP feedback is “what are you doing” “omg” rather than actual suggestions or observations from the back line lol

All tank players are stuck in queue
