The devs said that they were most likely going into silent mode after Blizzcon and that they’re focusing on overwatch 2 until it’s unknown release that could be next year.
Current planned OW1 updates: Role Q training range/ special deathmatch, 1 new hero, and Cosmetics for every event
Is it even worth posting about the game anymore if all the replies are going to be:
- Wait until OW2
- Maybe in OW2
- I’m sure they’ll address this in OW2
- No that’s not in this update, they’re probably saving it for OW2
- this bug might not exist in OW2

At this point does anyone still need proofs to realize how dead the game is?
I mean, even the sequel isn’t a new game.

Or maybe OW2 will be released much earlier (<April perhaps)
and we’d get a few balance patches along the way

Ow1 and ow2 is merging together

My question is will it even worth playing the game if we’re going to be stuck in this current state until OW2? =n=

The only thing they haven’t addressed yet is the new heroes release prior to OW2 release.
How many heroes will we get until then ?
If they save all the heroes they had in store for 2020 for OW2 then there’s gonna be a lot of backlash.
They need to stick to their hero release schedule (3 heroes per year).

If it’s so dead, why is so many people on these niche forums posting all the time?

It’s fine if they could fix the balancing to be better and more frequent.

More like OW1 merging with itself.

All the questions are valid, specially if the game is dead or not. Not wanting to play is more of a symptom of their retarded strategy of announcing something that will replace another, expecting people to engage on the dead part.
For me, Overwatch is dead AT LEAST until OW2 is released
The YourOverwatch guys interviewed the devs in a panel, and the devs did say in the interview that we would be getting a new hero before the release of Overwatch 2.

Because posting on the forums is more fun than playing the game atm, it feels like. Plus there’s a large surge of disheartening from the announcement that we’re going to be getting even less than no content for the next 1+ year.

Exactly what I’m sad about

But you’ve had free updates for 3 years.
It was bound to stop at some point. I’m surprised they took this long TBH

Free updates for an online only shooter is pretty standard. 3 years is also a short time considering blizzard is known for supporting their games for a long period of time

Hey, I’m not -unhappy- about the content we did get. But why wouldn’t anybody be disheartened to hear that one of their favorite games is going on full-halt mode for more than a year? Particularly when it feels like it’s at one of it’s worst states in a long time and could use some TLC.

For about 2 of those years it was “Just wait until they are done with OWL, The balance and bug fixes are slow because they are too busy with OWL, Just wait”
Now it is
“Just wait they are busy with OW2, Just wait for them to finish it”
The 3 years of updates we have had have been less than most indie games give you and the neglect of heroes, bugs, balance etc has been killing the game.
It is one thing to not add new features it is a whole other thing to neglect and ignore things that are necessary for a healthy game.

Jeff said there will be at least 1 new hero coming to classic before OW2 releases.
