I hopped on to Overwatch 2 the first day of season 17, after I got on I went to the competitive role queue that is 5v5. After I did this I went to support and it said 0/10 placements and I was expected to be placed platinum 5 at that time. I started up the game queue as support only and got into the game, the map we got was Rialto and I picked Moira and when we were in pick and ban phase I banned in this order Symmetra - Wrecking Ball - Sombra and we started on defense. So the game started and the other team got to the last checkpoint and we held them so they had a score of 2 rather than 3; directly after finishing the half and was showing us the score before we go to the attackers side multiple people started disconnecting and before I got disconnected I saw somewhere between 5-7 people disconnect. When I disconnected it put me in the trying to reconnect thing on the overwatch 2 client and I stayed in that for around 2 minutes and after that didn’t work I decided to close out of overwatch 2 and reopen it. After I reopened the client it put me in a queue saying there was 30 people ahead of me and it took me probably around 5 minutes to get into the home page of the game. When I got to the home page I went to see if there was a reconnect button and there wasn’t one and then I went to history and didn’t see the game, after this I thought “oh the game got canceled because some of the servers went down because it’s the first day of a new season” I hopped off after this and took a bit of a break. When I got on later I went to play another support game it still said 0/10 placement games and predicted me platinum 5; when I won this game I saw that it predicted me to be gold 2 -might have predicted that I was going to be gold 3 and ranked it up because I won- and that I lost the first game that I have been talking about which I thought was cancelled. When I saw this I was confused how I lost when presumably the server went down, I didn’t get a leaver buster and there was no history of the game that I could see. So I am wondering what happened in this game and why did I get a loss that doesn’t show in my history (2 or 3 demotions). In other games when new things come out the server will have more weight on them and there are problems sometimes; if a problem occurs and the game you are in gets crashed the game is just cancelled and it won’t count as a game, so I was wondering if that is what happens on overwatch because I don’t really understand the loss and no history. It makes me think, was this game cancelled or did it play out because the others were able to reconnect somehow.
