I know the OW team needs to promote what they worked on years ago when PVE with talent trees were supposed to be released as OW2.
Still, I don’t think incentivizing the playerbase to play 15 matches of a “Competitive only” PVP game mode should be a thing.
It’s clearly unfair to players that quit playing Competitive years ago and that don’t want to force themselves to play “Stadium” just for rewards.
Still won’t be playing “Stadium” but don’t forget to be fair next time. You could have come up to other rewards such as FOMO “skins” “titles” or whatever to promote Stadium (especially if you believe it will be successful without baiting with lootboxes that can’t be purchased otherwise).
F2P Overwatch is not a sequel, yet F2P OW1, with 85-90% of copied-pasted old content from the original game.

My point still stands : baiting players with lootboxes just to brag “how successful” Stadium is during the honeymoon phase is deceiving.
The real numbers we should focus on are to be communicated in December 2025 or Early 2026. Of course most people will play it once it’s shiny and new (and lootboxes are baiting the playerbase).

It’s “ranked”. That is not the same. You have a rank that goes up or down based on wins and losses it does not have competitive matchmakers.
There’s still a rank, at the end of the day. I won’t be playing any ranked modes in F2P OW1 ever again. I play Competitive in other more recent games, so I can’t compromise on that.
I mean if you think a rank that you go up 2 or down 1 at some levels and up 1 down 1 often but has no competitive matchmaking competitive, that’s a you thing.

I’ve been playing Competitive in OW for 2-3 years straight.
It was time to put an end to it. I still like the franchise but won’t commit to “ranked” matches anymore (I don’t miss the toxicity either).
My thread is what it is, just politely asking not to lock players out from good rewards just because they don’t play Competitive anymore.
I feel like it’s legitimate of me to ask that / give that feedback, as I’ve been supporting the franchise (like many others) since its creation in 2016, and bought every single Premium BP since 2022 (even after their lies about canceling OW2 behind our backs).

I think making it even a fake competitive mode was a terrible idea.
But honestly you are better off not playing it. It isn’t good in the slightest. It’s far too long and yet each round is far too short somehow. It’s very bad.
Meanwhile I’m stuck with almost nothing to play. Bans are morally reprehensible to me. I hate 6v6 my favorite mode 5v5 competitive open queue was removed etcetera. It’s really that over the past couple months blizzard has been telling me that this game just isn’t for me to play. So I’ll probably take their hint and go away.

Also, I think it’s very common to behave like this in my region (I guess ? haha).
I saw it coming, tbh… I have a nose for things like that and my first impression always ends up being the right one (at least for me but it’s also a good thing if many players actually enjoy “Stadium”).
Plenty of games out there to play if you’re not on a budget or if you’re not into “Overwatch-like” games only.
Can’t tell, I didn’t play it but I usually never trust games / game modes that get released incomplete. I’m sure many players will enjoy it nonetheless, as new content in a 9-year old game, is always welcome.
I know you’re probably like me and spend every coin you get as change on slots, but if you are truly done with comp…don’t play stadium. Leave the lootbox behind
First off, that legendary box could literally give you a skin that costs regular credits (yeah, not the paid ones). I don’t think boxes in general should be tied to money and they should be able to be obtained by playing the game and this one is. Nothing wrong with that.
This is a PvP game in general. The “Competitive only” mode is just a tag. So as opposed to what? a PvE mode to allow you to obtain this?
Its not a FOMO thing, its a skin that represents X. Like a skin that represents you watched OW2 streams for certain hours. Its obtainable, you don’t have to pay … the rest are “made up” problems.
