hitscans dont hardcounter pharahmercy (they just can fight against this duo, they are soft counters).
But pharahmercy hardcounter no hitscans heros. For this reason, yeah they should remove pharahmercy sinergy.

It does not matter in low ranks. Its that the skill difference between a good hitscan and a good pharah is so vastly different, that its mostly unfair in low ranks.
PharMercy is more a problem than Bastion in our ranks.
Bad heroes staying bad cuz of bad players and Good heroes staying good cuz of bad players
Doesn’t matter in high ranks either. That’s why the top DPS ranks are all just the same pharah player.
Top players are always the same people playing the same heroes regardless of buffs and nerfs.
The funny reaper, bastion, junkrat, torb only players getting top500 as a challenge are too common.
They can’t be bothered to touch her more than once every 2 years and when they do it’s insubstantial like “your ult lasts 30% less/does 30% less overall damage” and “you now hover forward 5% faster”
People think “ooh Pharah hardcounters Mei or Junkrat”, but forget that those characters can HIDE. And often map geometry forces Pharah on the ground. It is not that hard to avoid a Pharah. Bit harder to actually kill her, but she is not that big of a “hardcounter” to those characters than people think.

Getting shot, anti-heal, or knocked back apparently isn’t a hard counter in regards to the hero balance. It seems to only have to do with stuns, slows, and shields.
I mean, what is the definition of a counter?
The devs are lying to you, they’re only saying this to try and persuade players that the game won’t be problematic having heroes locked behind a battlepass. Hard counters and counter swapping will still exist.
They’d have to rework 99% of the heroes in the game to get rid of “hard counters”.
This is really what ends up happening. Pharah can only provide damage. Maybe some minor distraction assistance and occasional booping off highground. You can run DPS vs Pharah in the sense of who can ignore the other best and provide the best overall value.
If Mei walls out a tank that walked into a tiny room and died to freeze nothing Pharah can do about that, but if people aren’t dying to Mei’s walls and freeze stuff or she’s missing some left clicks Pharah will rack up some more value.
Pharah is hard countered by the bad support players on her team far more than by any enemy heroes.

I don’t want to put too much hope on OW team. I eagerly waiting to read “massive” patch notes. I love to see the changes for Pharah, Torb, Sym, Reaper, Dva, Orisa, Doomfist & Mercy.
Maybe making her less reliant on her Hover Jets and Jump Jet to gain height, and putting more emphasis into her Concussive Blasts and Rocket Jumps to maintain flight? Might make her a tad more grounded in lower ranks while allowing more mobility in higher?
But, if there were an easy solution, I’d imagine the devs would have tested it a while ago.
Say what you want about Sombra’s silence in OW1, but it was incredibly healthy for dealing with Pharah. If your DPS sucked at hitscan they could go Sombra and just hack Pharah to shut her down without even killing her.
If they apparently are removing hard counters (they haven’t, its just made up BS excuse to put heroes in BP), then Pharah should’ve been one of the first heroes changed. Only hitscan DPS can deal with her reliably, and if she’s pocketed its sometimes not possible unless you have a pocket too (or can play widow).
I can’t remember who it was but someone on here suggested they make her more like Echo. They suggested lowering her HP to 175 but really update her movement. Make her less perma flight and more flanky. Her flight would be more about optimal times rather than perma hover. This would make it so she has a higher chance to die to lower ground heroes, make her easier to heal from your supports, give her carry potential as her own hero, and also it make it so she is less reliant on the Mercy (so Mercy doesn’t need to hardpocket her) and reduce pharamercy but also not completely ruin her their synergy. I liked that idea but idk I dont really play her. As a Mercy though, I dislike needed to be with Pharah almost at all times. It’s boring.
