Nintendo Switch QoL Improvements Request

To AndyB or any other mod that has some sort of contact with the devs at Team 4, this is a list of things I believe the Switch version of OW needs. It would be much preferred if these were added to OW 1.

  1. FPS problems: Most Switch players know what I’m referring to here. Ever since the Patchimari update, during big team fights or periods where there are a lot of particle effects showing up in game (Mei, Symmetra, or tons of ultimates on the field) the once relatively stable 30 fps drops to around 10-15 fps. I think it has gotten better since we last heard from someone working on the issue, but it is hard to tell. It might just be the fact I don’t play as much as I used to. I believe the sole cause of this issue is there are too many particle effects and the Switch can’t handle it, so if those effects could be toned down so we can play at a smooth 30 fps (or more since the Switch can handle a max of 60 fps), that would already be a huge improvement to our experience.

  2. Graphics Improvement: The Switch can handle a max of 1080p. OW on Switch (while docked) only runs at 900p. Now, I did see an article where the people creating this port said they had to downgrade the graphics so it could run at a smooth 30 fps (which doesn’t happen as well anyways as mentioned above). While it would be nice to get an upgrade to 1080p, if it makes the already poor 30 fps worse this can just be ignored altogether.

  3. When watching a highlight, the sounds in the highlight intro are always behind until the actual gameplay highlight of the match I played. This is kind of something I’ve noticed since the release of this version, but I didn’t notice an issue until I played on PC. Sure I shouldn’t compare it to PC, but this is something that shouldn’t happen anyways and always detracts from my enjoyment in watching my highlights.

  4. Menu Slowness: Whenever I load into the main menu, whether from a concluded match or from starting up the game, there is always this five second wait time before I’m able to do anything. If I don’t wait, it lags a lot. This could be present in other console versions, but I don’t know.

Like I said at the top of this post, all of these are quality of life improvements for us Switch players. They aren’t much, but I believe it would make the experience much more enjoyable for us (especially #1).

If any of the Switch OW community has anything to add that would make our version better please mention it in a comment. There might be some issues/improvements I forgot about that would be nice to have. Other than that, thank you for reading and have a good night.

Hopefully you’ll get a response. I didn’t know OW had this many problems on switch. I play on PS4 and the game does freeze briefly when opening up my career profile.

I also experience fps drops after viewing my player icons, and backing out to the home screen. But those things don’t really bother me too much.

You guys also need a chance at getting pink mercy. Switch players never got the opportunity…

Yeah. We missed out on a lot. We did get a chance to get the all star skins, but all the other skins that came out before October 15th of 2019 we never got the chance to get. What’s even worse is we can still view a couple of them (Pink Mercy and Nano Cola D.Va) when we use the legacy filter. It’s kind of like we’re being taunted for not getting the game sooner even though the switch came out in 2017 and it doesn’t matter if this was our first version or not since there isn’t any cross-progression.

Yeah I fully understand where you’re coming from. I don’t play on switch, but I feel like Blizzard should do a re-run for the skins that you guys couldn’t get.

The playerbase had no control of when the switch port was released, and how many limited time cosmetics would be unaccessible as a result.
