New To Dva, Tips?

I’m a Mercy main, I just got done playing Dva for an hour. This is my first time trying to get good with a tank since I’ve started, as it’s been intimidating for me.
Does anyone have any good tips for her? Anything helps, I look pretty crazy playing her but shes a lot of fun to use. Any suggestions, comments, or general info is welcome.
Thank you <3 (-:

Spam voicelines. It’s an unwritten rule of playing D.Va.

My biggest tip is to practice using defense matrix to eat abilities like Firestrike, Moira orbs, Biotic Grenade, and so on. It feels good to eat ults, but eating abilities is where you’ll get the most consistent value.

The defense matrix is actually something I’m struggling with. I’m assuming you get used to knowing when to use it over time but rn I barely use it at all. Rn its hard for me to guage what I can and cant block with that, because I suck at using it

defense matrix is good for zoning, if you put it on top of an enemy then they are forced to respect it and move away

its pretty similar in function to winston’s barrier, it creates space for you and helps you stall for your thrusters cd

I’d like to review a game code if you can post one. Best way to give advice.

Henlo, it is me, the Dva possessed player that has existed since the beginning of time (launch). All I play is Dva. I know Dva like I know how her mech isn’t currently lighting up when you shoot. Fusion cannons are supposed to glow dang it. I notice things like this. Why aren’t there more threads asking for it to be fixed? I don’t know. I do know how to play Dva though.

I could sit here and list a bunch of things I’ve said in the past about her but the best way for me is to simply vod review.
Post a code for me and I can get an idea of what you need help with.

Your critbox is on the front of your body, so if you’re unlucky enough to not have DM or boosters up in front of the enemy, turn your back to them while getting into cover so you take less damage (especially if you still have armor health left)

When you boost to get aggressive, try to avoid boosting directly onto your target. Look to boost to a high ground above them. Spray them with damage, and drop when you’re ready to secure the elimination (if you can’t finish the kill from above).

A lot of Dva’s just boost right in front of a target, then act surprised when they take a face full of damage and have no boost to get out. Boost above your targets, let some time tick off the booster cooldown, then feel more free to get aggressive.

This. I can’t stand seeing this.

I would also mention learning all of Dva’s techs are very important.

Bruh how did you manage to change your icon?

Its kind of random and I am mad that I am not the only one with this here in the forum anymore…

As for the topic:

Your life will be miserable when they play duo or triple beam. All you can try is to avoid them. Use the DM to shut ultimates down or protect your own DPS or supports. Try to hinder (lol) the enemy tank as much as possible and be annoying to DPS on the high ground. As for your utl, dont hold it so long. Its very unlikely that you do anything with it, because the new maps are pretty flanky with many spots to hide. Use it to get your mach back as a second chance in a team fight or detonate it above their heads or to maybe get a kill or bait out ultimate.

I hope you have fun playing her.

Go look at some of Emongg’s old videos on how to play D’Va. Even with the changes in her kit levels, they’ll be helpful. Learn to use the walls and carts for cover, and always know where all the heal packs are. Defense matrix is our best friend. Also learn to go high and use roofs to slide to different areas. That being said, practice going over and under different buildings or the openings in the floors. King’s Row at the end has a few great surprise attack areas if you know how to use them. When in tight fights around the cart, dash around it to damage opponents while blasting others. There are also a lot of vids on YouTube on mech placements for plenty of 4 kills. D’Va is pure fun to play, so enjoy the journey learning to use her.

You can directly destroy Winston.
Remember your defense matrix can stop heals while you attack.
Help your teammates who are struggling to kill Pharah + Mercy since you can fly.
Beam characters are your enemies so avoid.
Take full advantage of mobility and elevation on the map.
Learn every hero’s ulti management, if you can predict when the enemy has ulti, Dva can easily eat it to change the whole fight.
Lastly, make sure you spam your voicelines to tilt the enemies.

Id say the #1 Dva tip is when facing double/triple beam is to swap to another tank unless youre obviously outplaying them your not going to contribute much but enemy ult cahrge.

Switch.

DVA is realy easy to bypass matrix cuse with out a second tank to counter for the ZARA / SYM / moira / mei you then have to play high ground or scared and a lot of times you to bussie trying to keep your self alive / your team alive for stupidity or for plays in gen and with a discord orb on you 24/7 you barely ever have enough time to use it on alts or time things or have just a little sliver of it for you dps to be like aaa head shoot reaper i mis out of matrix we die and also dont HOLD the matrix when just deniing some damage it s ok to take some matrix for the team back up heal you have lots of armor ALSO KEEP THIS IN MIND Your fellow players reported you for abusive language multiple times

O lord a mercy main trying to play something else, il take a break from the game me thinks :upside_down_face:

If you DM me when I go for a rez, I’ll appreciate you greatly.

First priority, learn when to DM.

Second priority, learn to track your target while boosting them at close range.

Good third thing to pick up is learning to play close enough that you can disrupt them with booster while waiting for DM to recharge.
