New so called fair matchmaking is a joke

Every time I am playing overwatch in competitive I get the most unfair team diff of all time. I either don’t have a team at all and I play support for nothing, or I play as other roles and my team doesn’t even try and help while the enemy has the advantage every time and I just can’t do anything. I get lose after lose without any hopes of winning. When I do get a win I get shot with another long lose streak without any hopes of ranking up again.

New?
Hasn’t changed in years.

Treats everyone the same so it is fair (you can think it is good bad or whatever, but fair is factual).

Spend less time whining on the forums and more time improving your own gameplay and you will rank up

the matchmaking is indeed a problem but the devs seems to think everything is fine and they even did a interview with spilo

matchmaker needs a re-write

That might be because it is fine…

Maybe the issues with the game lie elsewhere. Just a thought.

How can I improve my own gameplay while all I do is healing the most in my matches but lose bc my teammates have absolutely no skill?

One quick tip, based on that statement alone…

Heal less, damage more.

If all you are doing is healing. It’s likely you are the problem.

I understand why you’re saying this. But i really don’t think it’s good advice out of context. I’ve died so many times as a tank while I watch a healer trying to get a kill instead of trying to keep me alive when I needed it.

Same as DPS. Fall back to the support to get heals. Stand there doing nothing next to the Support while they attempt to get a kill while passive healing kicks in. Watch them die. Wonder if it would have been better for them to heal me so I could get back into the fight quicker.

It’s just really bad advice for a support. Tanks and DPS learning to play around bad supports makes them bad team players. We should be able to rely on our supports, not play with the expectation that they’re going to be trying to get a kill so they can pad DPS numbers when we need them most.

The “heal less, DPS more” may be good advice in certain circumstances but it just requires more skill and awareness than this statement implies. And even then, most times it’s still better to heal. The reason this advice holds so much weight is because of what good DPS players can do when they play a Support hero.

But… it is what it is I suppose.

Yes, basically heal when you have to and damage when you don’t. It sounds simplistic but it’s something that a lot of support players seem to struggle with. Or they are too focused on stat padding or they have bad situational awareness.

Mistakes are going to happen in every game at every rank but occasionally you’ll witness the kind of decisions that make you wonder how on earth that player is even anywhere near your rank.

That’s not really true, especially in lower ranks. The opposite is preferable, especially if someone is seeking to climb on support. That doesn’t mean zero healing for your team at all obviously, but generally you’ll want to focus on carrying via elims and manipulating the enemy rather than pumping a feeding tank who’s achieving nothing except giving the enemy ultimate charge. There are exceptions too such as pocketing a smurf or someone popping hard. Overall, frag your way up. What rank are you currently, by the way?

This is correct. So the lower you are the more you’ll find yourself damaging, in general. There are some people who are bad at DPSing on support yet do it continuously so the opposite may apply and they’ll have to focus on healing more.

so every game, no matter the role you’re on your team feels like it’s at a disadvantage.

every game. where the only common denominator is you.

but the problem is everyone else.

k.

if you are just healing youre a spectator in the match

the enemies you are facing are not magically better than your team

Typical “play more, be better” marketing.
Bad balance is not a player problem.

Problem(s) with the matchmaker are the following:

  1. You do 28-9-0 round => it thinks you are the carry when it should normalize for team’s performance
  2. The MM divides the “carry” team to 4-6 different games for carry => you did nothing special in previous game so you get wiped due to the fact that you get placed against better opponents

What it should do is to normalize against team’s performance & give you team’s that match your performance

Non of that is true.

The game never thinks your a “carry”.
You have MMR, MMR goes up, you get matched according to MMR.

Yeah right, and when this happens 24/7…its not true. We can agree to disagree.

You might think it does, but you just understand it.

You can make up explanations all you want, doesn’t make them true tho.

This is the experience I am having 24/7. So let’s agree to disagree.

Or you could just stop and accept they’re correct, mostly because Blizzard have explained how Overwatch 2’s match making works in great detail.

Statistics in a match do not matter. All that matters is the win or the loss. There is no PBSR or similar.

Do damage and get picks.

It’s the only way to climb on support.

Nope. Sometimes it’s better to eliminate.
