With the widow mythic coming up on the horizon, how do you all think the cheating is gonna look like this season? I feel like it’s ramped up every season pretty dramatically since say 2 or 3 seasons ago, and with a hero that the cheaters love getting some love, I imagine it’s gonna get pretty sloppy.
They’ll try and deny though, you know how it goes. Wall hacks all day every game.
Still holding hope blizz wants this game to prosper in a real, integrity related way.
China has one but we would not like it. Wouldn’t want to get caught there where you lose social score which can prevent you from doing even the most mundane things like Work… or even taking the transit. the worse your score gets the worse your life gets.
Cheaters normally don’t have access to said skins, because their account gets banned at one point or another. And they make new ones. And getting a mythic actually requires them to buy into the game. Then play it for long periods without getting banned.
Dude I browse the public hacking forums and even those free cheats are undetected, lord knows the premium 10-20$ ones are undetected as well and probably have been for 2 years now, judging by my own experience there weren’t this many hackers until then. There is an anti-cheat but its laughable, so much so that forced injections are undetected, even DICE and Squad have better anti cheat than this.
So blizz works in waves when it comes to the “subtle hackers” the only ones getting away with it are like the reeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllly obtuse and barely noticeable ones that at best are giving you stats based on the kill feed.
Iv’e reported my fare share of aim-bots and wall hackers and they kicked in like a day or so if the messages are to go by.
As in they hit the priority targets that are actively disruptive. And will basically patch out the rest when they can.
I don’t think anyone is asking the devs to 100% get rid of every singular cheater. As you said: that wouldn’t be possible. But we can all recognize that there are way too many of them ruining games all day and clearly reporting them isn’t doing much of anything.
For the most their are not remotely as many as people think. And most of the ones that are their are really to subtle to even tell, or know from the receiving end. Because like the ones that take a while to get rid of are like those with stat cheat sheets like enemy ult charge.
like they ban any one that is obviously disruptive, which is what actually matters.
Cheaters are literally in every single game. No anticheat. “wave bans” are hilarious. So cheaters are allowed to aimbot 24/7 for 6 months and then maybe they get banned. Suprise suprise, they can go and create new account and continue aimbot for the next 6 months. until that so called " ban wave" might hit them.
My bad, didn’t realize I need clout on the Overwatch 2 forums to have conversations with people. I don’t quite know your motive for trying to debunk everyone who is calling out the cheaters? If you yourself haven’t had bad experiences and your reports have paid off, I’m genuinely glad.
That’s just not the case for a lot of people. There are literal live streamers having the same cheaters in their games for like a week in a row, which to me is ridiculous.
I understood the purpose of these forums was to try and get improvements for the game, but you seem to be really set on your personal views of the game and aren’t taking other people’s experiences and opinions to account.
OH no your fine their, I just find it funny that of all things in the world these new accounts are replying to it’s some how me that they end up on.
As like your the 6th one this one this week.
Because I’m a game dev my self (not one on blizz)
I have seen the numbers for quite a few games. Including the statistics for TF2’s bot crisis regarding which ones are in game or just idling for box drops.
And can tell you from history that cheaters make up such a small percentage of games, even for big ones like this. That statistically speaking your at best seeing 1 in every fifty to hundred or so games. And those can be ones that are not even using something you can see like an aim-bot or wall hack. (unless like your top 500 or something were their are not a lot of players to engage with as a whole)
I don’t have blizz numbers specifically but even with the most basic anti-cheats, the vast majority of your games are going to be cheat free. And ones that are “getting away with it” are actually being watched quite consistently for data to improve their anti-cheat for the next ban wave to not hit real users.
also don’t think for a second that half the ways to by pass bans are not known or worked around by the devs. All it takes half the time is for one of them to enter chat to know exactly who you are.
It’s the end all be all for them, that their word is the final say on others subjective experiences. Yes there can be doubt but it is apparent to anyone that has played this game for years that cheating has skyrocketed to a level never before seen in this game.
What makes it worse are the cheater shills that sew doubt and gaslight lies in order to control the narrative that there are no cheaters in ba sing se.
All I want is a fair game. Idc if people are better than me, I just don’t wanna play against aimbots and wallhackers and toggle cheaters in a “COMPETITIVE” game.
As long as we have the current state of cheaterwatch 2, the matchmaker, balance, stomps, and joy of the game will never be true or good.
usually the cheaters need to wait for the cheating software update when game updates, so they don’t get banned because the new patch somehow detects their cheats better?
So part of the ban wave, is in fact building up the tech to find and catalog such. weed out the results that are false positives. Then ban everyone at once.
are you serious? What in the world made you believe this? Was it the recolor of old skins? Was it giving up on all promises made for the sequel and adding those in as FOMO events? Integrity is dead. And I mean cremated and spread the ashes dead.
a slightly better method to combat cheating would be to link an account to a real id, bc there is so many IDs people have hanging around and it would heavily disincentivise cheating, although the caveat is the huge reporting problems
