New reaper ultimate ability

Wanted to make a new reaper ult cause I was bored
Also reapers current ult is either to strong or too weak. It is boring for multiply reasons

  1. It is instantly cast meaning that it doesn’t require much thought behind when is the perfect time to use it. You just use it whenever you feel the need to.
  2. It is just his normal attack but at a must faster attack speed and sensitivity at full.

The ultimate I propose is called Shadowraithes.

  • Lasts 15 seconds

Summon 3 shadow wraiths that can be killed and chase after the nearest enemy. When killed they spawn back at reaper (is duration of ult is still up) after 1.5 seconds.
They can move through impassable objects.
When touching an enemie they do 50 dps and give 50% if damage done to heal reaper and 50% percent of damage done to heal themselves.
They move at 125% movement speed
Have 150 health.
If reaper dies they dissapear.
They last after ult is finished until killed.
Cast time 2 seconds - reaper cnanot move while casting

how does this require any more thought, it works through walls and it lasts 15 seconds

Easily the wraiths are destroyable. You forget this.they are not immune to CC either. You could nullify one of the wraiths for a large amount of the duration but sleeping it

Again, situational. With them respawning at reaper it can be used to press advantages with there movement speed of 125%. It also gives reaper a lot more survivability with the healing that they give.

It’s an interesting thought, but what if instead, the Wraiths followed Reaper’s actions? For example, they’d TP to the same place, and they’d walk where he does, and shoot where he does. . .it would increase his overall damage. Then the Ult lasts for 8 seconds, and the Wraiths disappear.
ALSO, Wraiths are penetrated by damage. For example, McCree bullets would hit the wraith, but also penetrate it to go behind the wraith, so as to not make body blocking to OP for a character with increased life-steal for the ult

Feel like this would be even more boring as his current ultimate. Purely a damage multiplier with some extra survivability tacked on.
Don’t get me wrong, like the idea, but don’t feel like it would work.

Seems awesome. I’d lower the hp of the wraiths to about 50-76 though.

Overwatch players kinda suck at shooting things so it needs to seem plausible to defeat the shadows.

Think you might want faster wraith respawn time then so that there is less downtime on the wraiths. The wraiths would not be able to get to enemies at all otherwise

I like the idea of Shadow Wraiths and I’d love a return of shadow orbs return in some way (maybe as the wraiths heart) But based on what you have designed it would be an OP ultimate due to:

  1. That they track- you didn’t say how they (highest health enemy, lowest health enemy, nearest, LOS at cast, do they get see invisible characters , etc…), does reaper have an indicator of were the wraiths are, does the enemy, solo or group tracking, can you select which enemy (ies) the wraiths go? All of this should be taken into consideration of how strong this ability could be and its very high likely hood of being OP.
  2. Distance and Duration. How far can they go from reaper, as reaper can I position myself close yet far enough away to spawn camp a character while still being effective to the team? In theory could a reaper launch them close enough to the defenders spawn point to bully/spawn kill a defender while also returning to point to kill the rest of the team. Duration 15 seconds is a long time as afar as an ult goes in OW. Yes the wraiths are killable. But the extra support they give reaper along with being respawn able and dealing high damage you could easily 1v3 people. 150 hp isn’t alot but along with reaper the total health at play is 750 which is being life steal healed and is spread out amongst different people it can be quiet effective. The idea is to go after reaper but each of the wraiths healing him 25hps (75 hps total) plus him lifestealing it would result in a scenerio where even if you took out the wraiths first by the time you go for reaper they would be back up full healing him. You could possible take out reaper with a cc and/or anti heal but he would most likely survive the attacks
  3. Not describing ability interactions. What abilities effect the wraiths and how. CC as you stated in a response is usable on them but how about healing, damage boosting, etc… If a Ana nanos reaper are all the wraiths boosted, same with mercy. This ability would be OP is ana and mercy could boost the main reaper and all the wraith are also boosted, mercy nano reaper is already hard to deal with that plus extra healing from wraiths it would be near unstopable. Does EMP end the ult or just delays the duration of it.
  4. Warning. How do enemies know who is attacking them. Is there a sound for when wraiths are getting close to an enemy/hunting them down. How do players tell the diffrence between reaper and the wraiths, how loud is the cast.

I like the idea of wraiths. I think it would be better if the wraiths haunted an area or point and where heal linked with each other not reaper and the duration of the lowered to 10 secs. Finally I would say that the health of the wraiths should be increased to 200hps.

Yes, I agree. I would have to see this in game to know how long it would be. 15 seconds is just a place holder.

3 second respawn time I believe would be fair. The wraiths cannot do damage unless the hit boxes are exactally colliding so retain flying characters would be able to destroy them easily. With team play and coordination, reapers ult Could be countered very well.

One shot kills are an extremely powerful combo. With cc and then focus fire, if reaper is not careful he will die straight away.

Wraiths cannot be affected by any healing and like bob, wraiths are not affected by reaper being nano boosted yet I think it would be funny if the wraiths could be boosted individually.

EMP does nothing to already spawned wraiths. The wreathes cannot respawn when reaper is hacked/EMPed and hack or EMP ends the casting of the ult, completely nullifying it.

Wooshing sound gets louder as a wraith gets closer.
Casting the wraiths is as loud as any ult.

With the haunt idea, I reckon it would be great to have a circle of graves or something pop out and have the wraiths be bound to that area and cannot leave it. The area would be very loud, about the size of 4 temple of Anubis point B’s.
