New rank progress

thoughts about the new rank system/overhaul?
Looks like they finally come to their senses and we will be able to see more INFORMATION regarding our rank and a lot of other things.

All seems lovely (since microsoft came in -nice timing)

I only have one complain about all of this.
Where were those features 1 year ago?

Better late than never i guess.

They also need to publish a stats site to take over from overbuff. It’s so dumb leaving everyone trying to have conversations just deteriorating into arguing about how accurate overbuff is.

They have all the stats. They quote them often in their reasoning about changes. Ppl think OW is presenting them anyway. So why not just let us have them?

i really like it. Looks better than the SR system tbh.

Some players like myself don’t want to know what rank we are in due to performance pressure. I’d rather just play several games in a row, not see myself ranking up or down and simply see the results after a period of time. I’d almost not even rather see what rank other plays are at.

The problem is that Blizzard makes very certain you get to see how many matches you win or lose by showing me my record after every game with a giant you have won 1 out of 5 games. Amazing feeling to make it even worse when it keeps a longer losing streak log than win log.

Oh, thank you game. Amazing motivation to tell me I’ve won 2, lost 10 and have any desire to keep playing compared to many players jumping back into QP to forget how many they have won or lost.

Hide it from me. Let me play for like 2-4 hr or something without any idea the full results, then look at the end and go from there.

Is there a summary for those of us who can’t watch?

I hope the new system will at last fix the current disaster.

Meanwhile, does that mean there is no reason to play ranked until the new system drops?

I was expecting the Ow1 SR god system coming back, but hey, this “new system” is good enough. It would be like Apex’s rank. Let’s see how it goes.

EDIT: And yes, FINALLY they’re going to reset MMR, so the boosted one’s can be assuming they’re going dooooown.

Its hilarious this is the mindset of many players. No one gives a damn about competitive for the sack of competitive and see where you stack up for other players. Instead its like, “Oh, my rewards will be meaningless, I better play QP instead”.

They could always make a button that says enable “rank performance statistics” or whatever and boom problem solved.
To me it was infuriating winning 7/5 games and deranking or worse staying at the same rank. It is one of the biggest issue that made me nearly gave up on the game.

aahh…i’ll try my best so
rank overhaul

  • your rank will update after every match win or loss and it will look like this:

It will take into consideration things like advantage? , win/loss streak and calibration (your impact maybe?)

  • all ranks are reset by season 9 and they will bring placements back like this:

It is not a full mmr reset but those 10 first games are super important according to devs, if you win them you will gain a lot more and (i assume) if you lose them it will hurt a lot.

  • A “full” rank reset will happen every year according to devs.

  • A new rank above GM called Ultimate. They did this because they are a lot of GM currently. I guess it’s a good thing.

  • New comp rewards like emerald weapons.

  • We will be able to see the match rank range (no longer the average). So if the lowest is a gold 1 and the highest is plat 2 it will appear like this :

This is everything important regarding comp. Hope it helps.
:flushed:

almost yes, unless you play for the sake of playing competitive you can chill out now and wait for the next season.

it is because of ow2 competitive system i can guarantee this.
I played csgo and now cs2 and it’s old ranking system is the best thing ever. You just play and you know nothing. If you play good you rank up if not you derank.Simple.

You either do it like cs2 where everything is hidden or you do it like EVERY OTHER GAME EVER with a progress bar, not the amalgamation that ow2 currently has.

I don’t think they can unless they take every information for private profiles, which will invalidate them instantly.

they will reset it but not complete (50%? 90% who knows?)
And it will be a yearly thing as well :joy:

Yes, they will on season 9 and once every year. Go watch the replay on yt ;D

its the exact SR system with a new pretty skin
instead of 1589 its Silver 5 at 89%

Can you not see the ranks of everyone in the lobby at the end of the match in cs2 ? I think in csgo you could.

If you aren’t able to see other people’s ranks (thx private profile) it’s going to still be awful. There needs to be AT LEAST the ranks of everyone in the lobby you’re playing, even if it’s at the end of the match, to ensure a modicum of transparency with the system.

I did watch it. They said it wont be a full MMR reset.

Of course not a full reset. But we’ll see the boosted one’s finally going down where they belong. That’s the important.

oh yeah you can see it. Most of the time I leave before that tho.But this rank range is a nice compromise. You will see the worst and best rank of the match.

Oh I see, it’s quite good then yeah!
