To address some toxicity in the game they make a new ping system. First I was surprised they even said this because this now puts some ownership of toxicity on the game design… whaaaa?
By making a system difference to handle some toxicity. I have a Simple question for you guys, can they make other systems? Can they do anything else?
Or are we going to simply say all toxicity comes from the players themselves…. Until they actually do make another change to address more toxicity.

I wish they added a voice line : " nice job!"
That alone would increase positivity

One thing I think they should add to the comms wheel is a “rotating” voiceline (like Valorant).
When someone says “rotating” in Valorant, I know that they’re attempting to get into a position to be of assistance so I can attempt to play safer or buy time rather than having to decide to engage or wait for another opportunity.
Then again…
At the pace that Overwatch moves at, its probably unnecessary.

I could see “rotating” being useful for characters who need to stage like winston/ball/tracer/doom. It’s like “moving here” but with the implied context of “lemme do this before you take a fight”
safe bet there’ll still be some concept of prefight staging in ow2 i think

That’s kind of what I was thinking.
Generally in Diamond+, people are in comms so I never had an issue but in the event someone isn’t, rotating could be useful for setting up dive or at least collaboration.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Oh, absolutely!! There’s no way you can execute flanks without coordinating on some level.
They need GL HF and GGWP too

When muting a player in-game literally takes 1 second, maybe 2, I have no sympathy for people that cry about toxicity…

I actually get pleasure out of muting people in-game. Because that way I can continue to work with everyone else while the other person completely rages and everyone quickly learns which one of us is the better player.

Oh yeah, if I get someone just having a ‘bad night’ on mute they go, I don’t mind banter but blatant raging is a mute.
I’m all for Blizz ‘combating toxicity’ but at the same time people need to learn a ‘mute’ is just a few clicks away…

Toxicity is an issue in almost every game, though it’s not like we could make any systems to get rid of it.
Sure we can suspend users and so on, though i’m sure they are talking about something else.
I don’t see a need to combat this, probably would backfire in some way.

to be fair, the “thank you” voiceline exists, and its not rare that people spam it passive-aggressively when they think you did a bad job. once again, depends on the playerbase that uses or abuses it.
they could definitely make it more convenient and accessible to mute people though, or to even block/avoid them

Not sure how this helps tbh.
I see the team feeding and I use group up voice line. They ignore me and carry on feeding.
How’s a bunch more options change that?
Game has fundamental issue with lack of team work, after 5 years. Game needs clans, and a proper tutorial, not ping.

Sorry couldn’t help vision 5 people engaged in a battle but your not helping. If people are feeding do you help or not?

Eventually sigh and just try to assist the biggest group.
Had a recent game. In a 4 stack. 2 tanks, 2 supports. We’re set up waiting for both dps to respawn.
our Pharah jets in, jets past us, ignores the group up emotes. Tries to 1v6 barrage on point and dies.
FML…
I think somebody summed up OW really well. “Team with the fewest feeding meat heads on it wins”.
According to a Jayne vid I saw, grouping up doesn’t occur regularly until Masters. Ridiculous.
Dunno how it is for you but on my pc it’s:
- press ‘P’ (team screen)
- right click player
- mute/block
Takes less than 2 seconds. How do you suggest to make it ‘more accessible?’

having to mute a person can and does increase your chance of losing. Their being in your match (whether you mute them or not) increases your chances of losing
that math doesnt check out seeing as how you have to assign equal values to A and B each being 50%

I’m pointing out that the math shows that any toxic person being in the game increases chance of losing either by having to be muted… causing other players undue irritation… their mentality… everything, so my point is, they shouldn’t be in the group to begin with.
