Ok so, i had an old mouse, a sades S7 (crappy chinese mouse), that i had running at 800cpi and this mouse would sometimes as i play and do 180s as tracer, just completly skip the movement if it was too quick (i would quite literally find myself facing the ground), so i got a new mouse, the hyperX pulsefire surge, but while on the old mouse, my aim was pretty respectable (almost onetricking tracer i could stand up against masters in 1 v 1s with tracer, given they were not mains), i found myself wondering how a mouse change (same cpi and sens), could have such an impact on my aim…
PS Today i lost to a gold and rn i’m pretty upset…
TLDR:
New mouse, messed up aim w same settings, need help
You need to build up muscle memory for each mouse… depending on how much you play, and how different (size, weight) it is from previous one, it might take week or a month.

Could be how the mouse detects movement. The bad mouse may have been slower or faster at the same settings.
You’ll get used to it though. I’ve swapped between 1 mouse with high sens, to the same mouse with low sens, and finally to a vertical mouse with low sens.
Shouldn’t take too long, practice, practice.

First of all, Thanks to everyone who answered to my post!
I was really getting frustrated with it, and hearing that the cause should probably be muscle memory helps me out a lot, especially because i thought that might have been a factor but i wasn’t 100% sure, plus now i know what to work on!
That said, thanks again and have a nice day!
Ps: any other precisation/reply will be appreciated!
Lmao you have so bad accuracy with her. play tank better

Starting the character from scratches comes at a price, my little friend!
Especially when overwatch is your first fps, made exeptions for previous console games.
btw, I play with her 800dpi and 5 in game… ‘144hz’ and I have always now minimum 40% accuracy …

Last precisation: i often play @60hz with 800 cpi x 7.5 sens, but a new monitor is on the way for those sweet 144hz!
Practice and re-adjust. Don’t get wrapped up in the fallacy that new gear = new you will

Buy a new 144hz monitor and you’ll be great with her, this is the best solution

My favorite mouse that I have had for 5 years died this summer. I got a new razor mouse. I had a hard time at first, but after a few days I don’t notice it at all.
In my case, my old sensor was way up front under my fingertips and on the new mouse it is further back by the back of my palm.
That change in sensor position made my wrist movements much less effective but didn’t change arm aiming much.
Just had to get used to it. I notice that most mice are made with this central sensor position.

Thank you for the answer, the position of the sensor is the same tho, but knowing that as well is good!
PS: just got a mail @EDI the monitor will arrive in two days!
You can also adjust the game sense and your DPI. When i got a new mouse, then new mouse pad. I had to keep adjusting them. Till it felt right. My settings where just a little bit lower than my old mouse and pad.

Here’s how I found my DPI and sensitivity settings :
-
Set both DPI and sens to an average value, for me it was 2k DPI and 6 sense
-
Go the training range and practice
-
Make changes according to your needs, in my case I quickly realized 2k DPI was way too much, lowered it to 1k and sens is now 3.5 after tweaking it approx. 15 times, lowering it by a bit everytime.
Also, if your mouse moves too fast you can do something called Pixel Skip, you can find sensitivity calculators on Google. I can’t find the value that you can’t go over to avoid Pixel Skip but the calculators should display it.

Thanks to everyone, i will check out these methods and the Perfect Sensitivity method to tune back my sensitivity, with all of this done, it should be all settled just right!
I would call this the end of the post since we have enough advices to be set for any possibility, and for everyone that after us, might have a similar issue!

If you haven’t already, find the DPI of your old mouse, find the DPI of your new one, and then use a DPI converter to match your send with your old one. If you mean the physical feel/shape of the mouse, can’t help you there. Just gotta spend time with it.

Set same CPI (800 in your case) or go with something between 400 and 2500, i would reccomend 1000. Then tomorrow when you didn’t warmed up, open the game and to the PSA method explained by ioStux to find a new sensibility that fits you, because the Pulsfire Surge should be heavier than that Sades mouse. I know, it will take time to adapt to a new sens, but after you adapted you will aim better
