It’s so inconsistently too easy or too hard that i want to stop playing after I win because i feel like if I continue to roll the dice I will get unlucky and get matched with people 3 ranks above me in silver 1.
Now to be clear I should be in gold but I solo queue so I am usually stuck with the zombies in silver 5. So while I know what to do and can be effective, if my tank is lost or my supports are more interested in dpsing. Then it’s a hard loss.
Well strap in, if i have learned anything since the start of Ow 2 i learned well… it is just going to get worse.
Dps still complain about “unkillable supports/tanks” while they are instantly melted by this stupid passive, better is for us support mains we get 1 passive… the same one tanks and damage get… and were given nothing else, tank 2 passive, damage 2 passive, support 1 passive and all the toxic chat because we are unable to heal as much.
If that doesn’t say it will just get worse well… give me what you are smoking so i can enjoy this dumpster fire
No, you would be in gold if you deserved it. The reality is even in diamond plus bad teammates exist, and yes they do hold you back. The reason people get to plat or higher REGARDLESS of how bad thier teammates are is because they maximize thier own value
I feel like match matching has always been a gamble, since Day 1. Some teams I get the synergy is perfect!. While other teams, the synergy is so bad that we just dont stand a chance.
I feel like OW2 made it more balanced with finding those synergic teams. How they achieved this, I just dont know.
You are playing with people who are at your skill level. For Gold that means people who might be good in certain situations but not all (or even most) situations. Since, as you admit, you are exactly where you belong, whether you win or lose the game largely comes down to a combination of whether you, or your teammates, are put in a situation where they can excel.
So in a sense you a correct that because you are stuck at your correct rank whether you win or lose is going to come down to luck. I would say though that if you wish to make it less luck based you could try improving. I am not really sure what else you are going for here as in any competitive game ever made you either get better and you climb or you do not get better and the games feel a little random because you are no longer an outlier.
I am talking about the matchmaking system. It’s not based on individual skill level but ONLY the rank a person has, which means nothing, if there are bots or lost new players that don’t understand countering or anything else about the game. I’ve been playing since 2016 I have a really good understanding of the game. There are a LOT of new accounts who just don’t understand the maps or game modes or hero intricacies. Because there is a mix of new accounts and old accounts games are extremely unbalanced. One team totally destroys another. This is new. In OW1 for the first 4 years, matches were basically even. That is to say that more often than not a game was fairly well matched instead of this absolute mismatch intentionally done scenario we have going on now.
Oh nose me mercy is during only 47hps instead of 55, god knows how I’m suppose to live without that extra 8hps.
It’s not as strong as your think it is now. Especially when we still have tools that can cleanse, block, dm, damage. Mobility tools to break LOS, and just boost the healing output outright. Via nade, moria/zens/mercy ult, Who knows what else in the future.
It is based on your skill level which after a set number of games is equal to your rank. Im going to put this bluntly: if you had a good understanding of the game you would not be Gold because even with below average mechanics you can hit Masters just off of game sense. Similarly you can be a Plat with GM level mechanics but no idea how to move. Plat is usually the league where good mechanics cap out.
What you are describing though is a reduction in individual impact causing matches to become closer. Basically I can describe the counter effect from an old game mode from I believe Battlefield or Star Wars Battlefront (though both had this mode). Basically you had a 40v40 game mode which just threw people randomly together. Because of the amount of people the games were almost always close because the numbers were large enough that the differences in skill averaged out.
Now lets take that a step further and talk about what variables could make a Gold 3 player (or Gold 4 or whatever your rank is) play better or worse in a match. You are almost certainly better on some maps and worse on some maps. The same can be said of modes, and of your ability to play against certain heroes and of your ability to play with certain heroes. That is ignoring the role that your mentality plays in your performance. Now on average you are Gold 3 but in a good situation you probably could look like a mid Plat and in a bad situation a Silver.
Now lets take that singular data point that is you and add 9 other variables. Suddenly we have 9 other people with similar variables which means it is very possible for one team to just be better. Now when there are 11 others it is more likely for the differences to cancel but it also means you have less of an impact on the game. The lack of individual impact was a major complaint commonly brought to these forums in OW1.
