I wanted an animal hero that didn’t use guns or weapons like Ball or Winston, so I thought a robot dog would be really cool.
Background: Brigitte and Torbjorn found some spare omnic parts after defending their hometown from a Null Sector attack. They decided that a robot dog would help them for future Null Sector and Talon attacks. Brigitte ended up taking him with her when she officially joined Overwatch.
[Hero Attacks and Abilities]
Primary Attack: Axel does a three-bite combo, each dealing 20/40/60 damage. The last attack has a slight delay but has a damage advantage.
Secondary Attack: Hold your secondary attack button to charge up and pounce on someone, biting them for up to 80 damage for a max charge. You can either not charge all the way for a fast attack but low damage, or use a full charge which will take longer but has a damage advantage.
Ability 1: Axel stands still and sniffs the air, revealing all enemies to him. He can then mark one enemy which will reveal them to his teammates for 6 seconds. Using this ability also reveals enemy deployables (Junkrat/Hog/Widow traps, Sym/Torb/Illari turrets) but only he can see them. This ability will have a cooldown of 15-20 seconds.
Ability 2: Similar to Soldier 76, Axel can run but much faster and only for a couple seconds. This ability will have a cooldown of 8-10 seconds.
Ultimate ability: Axel releases a howl, which has a slight delay when starting, giving enemies a chance to cancel it using stuns and CC. He will send out a circular wave after the howl that grows in size, pushing enemies and dealing 40 DPS. You can use it to push enemies off objectives, push them off ledges, or trap them in rooms.

Axel: (happy and excited barks)
Sombra: “Ugh, another animal to work with. Let’s see if you’re up to the job, Perrito.”
(Aggressive growling)
“I feel the same way, mutt.”
Tracer: “You’re Brigitte’s dog, aren’t you? I think she said that your name is “Axel” if I’m not mistaken?”
Axel: (happy and acknowledging barks)
“Who’s a good boy, Axel? You’ll do great out there!”
Dva: “우와, a dog! Dmon would probably scold me if I brought you back to our MEKA base.”
Axel: (confused whine)
“I’ll do it, anyways!”
Reaper: “Just so you know, I’m more of a cat person.”
Axel (aggressive growls)
“(Reaper scoffs) Mutt.”
Sigma: “Ah, a Canis lupus familiaris! I’ve been wanting one for a substantial amount of time! Moira would most likely not approve of you, though.”
Soldier 76: “Man’s best friend… let’s see if you live up to the name on the field.”
Torbjorn: “Looks like all of your systems are in working order, Axel! Brigitte has been taking very good care of you!”
Axel: (happy barking)
Brigitte: “Of course I am, papa! he is my pet, after all.”
