I have PTSD from my house burning down a couple of years ago and the new audio cue for being on fire is causing me to have panic attacks while in game. I did not know the audio was changed and I started having PTSD flashbacks when it played. Is there anyway I can revert this sound to the original? I play a lot of Ashe, so having to now associate one of my favorite heroes with the loss of everything I love is really problematic.
I know I am not alone in this experience and I think it could help others if there was at least an option to toggle off the new sound cue.

That is awful and I’m so sorry that happened and that this change is bringing all that back for you…Is there an option in the game now to turn off SFX volume? It’ll turn off everything sound effect related but at least you won’t have to hear that anymore…

I think so but I feel like that would take a large part of the game away. I have no idea why they thought changing the sound to a blaring fire alarm was a good idea

When sound design is “too realistic” it starts causing problems for many people.
Bastion’s ult’s air raid siren sound causes unease (and possibly more) to people as well.

They should stop with the catastrophe sounds like some alarms and sirens. You’re not the first.
I also didn’t find an option. Maybe you have a keyboard with a mute button so you can disable sound temporarily.

For a game about making the world better, they sure do turn a blind eye
While I certainly hope they make changes that can accommodate you, I really don’t think it’s fair to say they “turn a blind eye.” You can’t just sacrifice every design decision in the game because there may be a very small group of people who have PTSD from a particular sound or visual effect. It’s just not realistic to do that.

They don’t. They simply can’t account for all forms of trauma. I’m sure plenty of other players have fire related traumas, but some handle it differently when compared to others. Just don’t assume malice where it may not apply.
Making sound cues the sounds that are made to cause alarm is problematic lmao
I don’t know why they have to change what is not broken. I hate the texture and the sound. Worst update.

I’m gonna be honest, this made me check out the hub-bub, since I’d heard they’d changed the lava effect. Haven’t played Torb in a bit/since the update, and… wow. This is atrocious.
