New CPU or GPU?

Hello fellow Overwatchers! My birthday is coming up and I was thinking about upgrading my PC! Currently I have an rx 560 2gb graphics card and an AMD a10-9700 for my processor. If I upgrade my GPU i will be getting a Gtx 1660, or I can upgrade my CPU and get a Ryzen 5 2600. I can only get one part for now. What would you guys recommend, the new graphics card or new processor? What would make the biggest difference in gaming performance? Thank you for all of your answers!

I’d go with a new GPU for now, also as a temporary upgrade for CPU (don’t know much about AMD specs or models) you can always go second hand for a quick cheap fix.

Anytime!

r/Hardwareswap for the CPU, probably won’t find a 1660 there yet tho. But the GPU will blow the rx560 out of the water, you should see a huge increase in performance. Double check with a few searches first to make sure that your current CPU won’t bottleneck the 1660 tho. Again, I’m unfamiliar with AMD models and whatnot.

Getting a 1660 would be essentially useless. Your CPU would be bottlenecking it insanely, It’s just better to get a new CPU like the 2600 that you mentioned because not only will you get better gaming performance, you’ll get better overall performance on your PC, even when you’re not gaming.

TL;DR Getting a 1660 while having your current CPU is a bad idea because the GPU will be bottlenecked immensely. Instead, get a new CPU so that on top of getting better gaming performance, you get better overall performance.
