New collab? whats with this

obsession with anime from the devs?

Not to trash on anime lovers, but there are people who like other things too… There are so many good Collab’s you could do, and we just get another anime? Like, to anyone who hasnt seen this anime (never even heard of it, I believe its called “cowboy bepop”), these are just skins, that have no significance at all, completely ruining the point of a collab.

Thats why fortnite is the collab king, because they did collabs with big studios that most everyone knows. overwatch out here bottomfeeding.

Collabs take money, forknife is drowning in it, OW is still trying to get its footing with battlepasses not landing and skins being to expensive. Gotta go for what they can get. The Kpop skins only hit for a niche market as well.

Cowboy bebop is extremely popular and well known. I mean i could care less as im not putting any money into this dumpster fire game; buying cosmetics is for inc3ls.

I don’t have a problem with crossover skins, but that doesn’t mean I’ll buy them either, especially if the price is ridiculous imo. Like the Witcher and Mass Effect crossover skins in Destiny. I’m not spending $20 for 1 of the 3 skins that came with each crossover when I can buy all 3 Witcher games and all their dlc for the price of 1 skin give or take like $5. Same goes for Mass Effect after Legendary Edition launched. All 3 games, all but I think 1 dlc, and it’s often on sale for like $20-40.

If I like it and the skin is reasonably priced, I’ll put down some money. Otherwise, there’s no way they’re making a significant enough profit to justify the time/ money in getting the collab and items made.

I don’t mind anime but these collabs are starting to get very obscure (even just by comparacing to what other games offer)

If we’re going to be stuck with anime and anime adjacent colabs then I want Avatar the Last Airbender.

I wonder if blizzard is aware they cant make money without demand…

well, you dont have to lie about it

I nor anyone I know has ever heard of it, not even a peep

fr…

Like ik you cant do star wars or marvel or lotr or anything, but you could do a collab with at least something tons of people know about.

Even another gaming studio, heck, your own gaming studio, lets see some warcraft, starcraft and diablo skins, like you have so much content there, and youve only scratched the surface of it.

but ig this cowboy anime is what they think the players will want…

Fortnite has at least collabed with cool gaming franchises like God of War, Halo, Doom, etc.

I got to shoot Kamehamehas in fortnite in the main game. OW being a hero shooter just feels so limited in what it can do with collabs. Or they’re lazy

If you’ve never watched an anime, Bebop is a good one to start with.

Homeslice did you just seriously call cowboy bebop “obscure”?

If Netflix has ruined the live action version of an anime then it’s not obscure.

im sure its fine, but I personally am not a fan of anime, nor will I ever be

Im just unsure why blizzard isnt collabing with things they know work?

like one punch man sure, people have heard of that, did it make tons of money? not really but it was ok. the Kpop band? nobody I knew had heard of, did it make tons of money? yeah, cause super simps play this game and the skins were super sexualized.

This one? idk, the skins look cool sure, but I dont know anyone who knows this. like onepunch man was an anime I had never seen, but I knew what it was.

Blizzard just has so much content in their own games they can pull out, and they know with those collabs that people like them… so why bother going with some obscure studio?

It is to anyone who doesnt watch anime

Like onepunchman was big enough that i knwe it, even tho i have never watch anime. But unless your part of that community, you dont know what bepop is.

Tbh i think it must have made a lot

It was the first collab and every single doomfist and kiriko in my games that week had their skins equipped

A fair complaint. I’m lucky to have been familiar with the source material for most of their colabs, but I had no idea who Le Sserafim was, and had to familiarize myself with the group in order to be able to appreciate the colab.

Someone else mentioned it could be a money thing. It’s possible that getting to use someone else’s IP is expensive, with more mainstream IP’s costing more. Idk if that’s the case.

But I still empathize with you, I might be in the same boat if I had no idea what these shows were. All we can do is wait and see what else they colab with in the future.

yeah, I mean I understand the finance side, It would be difficult to Collab with any big studio if you had Blizzards name… nobody really wants that on their record, blizzard will have to earn their goodname back and their profits.

I just feel like everyone who plays overwatch also knows of blizzards other games, especially diablo and warcraft (though IMO starcraft is better than both)… There are so many characters from those games that havent been used in skins.

Sylvannas, Lich king, Tyrael, Mathael, Diablo, Tychus, Uther, Queen of blades, Artanis, the list goes on…

This collab is gonna make a shot load of money for Blizzard, no matter how hard you go against it. Cry more. I like seeing your salty faces.

I saw OPM skins in pretty much every game for months and months after that collab. While we could only guess at the numbers- I have very little doubt they brought in buckets of money from that.

1.Never said I was against it, just confused
2.Nobody is crying
3.Why is it gonna make tons of money do you think?

I only ever saw the free one

It is extremely popular. The collab announcement has already gotten 50k likes on Twitter. The Season 9 announcement only got 2.9k likes.

The instagram/Twitter/Reddit/youtube comments are going crazy with hype currently.

If you don’t like it you don’t have to buy it

It’s even more hilarious when you know the Cowboy Bebop is more popular in the west vs Japan.

The only people who’d be calling it “obscure” would be people who weren’t around for the anime boom of the late 90’s-early 00’s.
