New Clockwork meta?

Been seeing a lot of discussion lately on this comp dominating contenders in Europe. It seems as though it’s one of the few counters to GOATS, so any chances that it could find it’s way into the ladder or even OWL?
  1. They interviewed CV only thinks their onetrick abilities, and unfamiliarity with the matchup makes it work.
  2. Torb shotgun nerfed into the ground next patch.

Will be interesting to see if OWL tries it though.

That’s true. Didn’t occur to me how the torb right-click statistics work

  • Pre-nerf: Can do up to 300 damage
  • Post-nerf: Can do up to 210 damage

What he lost:

  • He won’t be able to one-shot 250 HP heroes
  • Takes 1 shot longer to kill certain tank heroes

The comp looks quite fragile. Eternal Academy dissected it without too many issues (even if it was a close match), and that was in trials. They’ll be playing against even better teams in Contenders.

Why do they use Torbjorn over Reaper?

Better range, more crossfires, and better ult

He can also have a lot of sustain with overload

Can someone tell me what the supposed comp is

Clockwork is similiar to dive whereby the heroes themselves work together but if one teammate goes down, it will have weakness & gaps. However for Goats, one tank or sup is down, it still functions like a Goat, that’s why it is that good.

  • Orisa
  • Roadhog
  • Mei
  • Torb
  • Zenyatta
  • Ana

Makes sense. I guess I’m just too used to his survivability and ult being such garbage that his better range couldn’t make up for it.

Part of it is also because their Torb player one tricks him. The main draw to them is they’re a bunch of friends that one trick, and they don’t really scrim. And despite that, they are doing pretty good.

But yeah, far as i know, they always run Orisa/Hog/Mei/Torb. Minimi, Moose, Ricky and Engineer one trick those heroes respectively. And Moose’s hooks are crazy sometimes. The other two slots are their flex slots. Usually support, sometimes another dps. Their Zen runs 50fps afaik too. Like, their team is a mess, but it’s working.

I’ve also heard their coach is a friend as well and he’s never really coached before. Which I feel also adds to the ridiculousness of this team.

That’s ameizing!

How long before the forum complains about this for 8 months straight?

Clockwork Vendetta is a team of nothing but one tricks so they play their one trick

(Sorry I am bringing this back after 12-ish hours of the last response but my duo showed me this thread and I have been looking into CV a lot recently).

So, there are only 4 main one-tricks in CV
Minimi - Orisa
Moose - Roadhog (Can also flex to Ball if needed)
Ricky - Mei (Can flex to Tracer as needed)
Engineer - Torb (though he sometimes goes Hanzo if they need it as well)

Munkmatta flexes between Ana Widow and Hanzo
Zytor flexes between Zenyatta and Mercy and sometimes also pulls Doomfist out.

Afaik they have all held top10 in the European servers at one point or another one-tricking (or two-tricking). They’ve been playing together for a while and their coach Kayjii and owner Purge are also close friends who didn’t have a place on the team and once they were getting close into getting into Contenders they were like “Ya know…sure why not!” and that’s how they got on.

This is a team that doesn’t work like any OWL or OWL contenders team so far. Not just because they are one-tricks but because they’re Team One-Trick: European Edition. They have a tweet on their twitter that says :

If you don’t know what the F- you’re doing, there’s no way in H- the other team knows.
We hit Contenders with scuffed voice comms, no coach, no scrims, no vod reviews, a 50 FPS Zenyatta and a Torbjorn in our comp…What’s holding you back?

This is the ultimate Meme in OWL as far as I am concerned. This works for them, because they know the strengths and weaknesses of their respective heroes like the back of their hand.

The last video in the OP explains pretty well why their comp works and why it doesn’t. Right now the weakness CV has is against Pharmercy, Ashe and Hanzo because there is a lot of damage coming at a lot of angles. They went against Crescent Dew and lost, but they went to map 5 and pulled that into map 3 (because it was KoTH). It was a tie breaker of tie breakers, and they were relatively undefeated up until that point.

It wasn’t so much as of a hero synergy that helps them, their heroes for the most part work very well together, yes, but it’s also a player synergy.

Just looking at the Main tank, Minimi knows he can set up a little bit further up. This allows Engineer and Ricky to set up in a way to where they have a wider LOS for turrets and their ranged fire.

Like I highly encourage people to look at their gameplay even in their one loss (that I know of) against Crescent Dew. It was great to watch because they just not only click as heroes but as players. If they were to ever make it into a full-on OWL team they’d all have to be signed together.

I am very excited to see where they go because when being a one-trick was a hot topic on the forums about a year ago, I was never against it. OTP’s were never a problem in my eyes because they know their hero inside and out, and examples like Team-one-trick US edition (Fuey, Chro, Potato, ect), and now Clockwork Vendetta who have been in open-division twice and made contenders being one-tricks shows that it’s not as limiting as people think (their first Open appearance was NOuOTP which was a joke of them being one-tricks).

Thank you for coming to my TedTalk

Purge is owner, Kayjii manager

Thank you for the correction, I edited my essay of a post I looked at their twitter and the emoji’s confused me.

Two overwatch central videos. Forgive me if I skip those particular vids.

So it looks to me like it’s a comp that takes enemy teams by surprise and therefore they have no clue how to deal with the CV comp. As the manager said “the only team that can beat us is a team with a really good coach”, which is likely because the coach can analyze the weakness in CV comp and point out exactly how to deal with it easily. It dies to Pharmercy easily so that is likely to be it’s downfall, but it would be interesting to see if it takes GOATs down as well.

Does Minimi have a channel? I’ve been looking for an Orisa main channel that i can study like Fitzyhere’s for two years now.
