New Aaron Keller Interview

Am I the only one really annoyed trying to read this? I don’t normally read Gamespot anymore after the Gerstmann firing, but why don’t they have the text somewhat central like every other media enterprise on the internet? Could it be something weird with my browser or something?

Edit: None of their other articles are like this… This is the only one where the text goes all the way across the screen.

Bugged me too.
Full widescreen text?

I dunno… It could be like a stylistic choice. It does remind me of reading a physical magazine or how some sites used to be, but I’m not used to it at all and I have a giant monitor that probably makes it worse than it might be for the average person.

Blizzard knows OW isn’t in a good spot right now … they will give the player base some candy for a while and when the interest in OW grows again they will come with **** to buy … for real money.

Bruh why do you think I spelled it that way?

Actibli$$ion higher corporate is the same as it’s always been. I care about the independence of the overwatch team. Jeff was a VP and had pull up there, and we don’t have that influence to shield us anymore.

The interviewer actually asked some “bold” questions. I liked that.

EA vision Blizzard

Aaron, while definitely very tight-lipped and slippery, answered as honestly as he could, I think. And Aaron was definitely more candid and very respectful while talking about his former mentor and our “Papa” Jeff Kaplan.

I do not know which Web Browser you use, but if it has a “reading mode” please use it, I can assure you that interview will be much better to read.

So, we expect that in like half a year ya? XD

So if the soon to be announced feature(s) are going to be massive as he says, then part of me hopes that a community map editor tool is coming sooner than I thought. But something like that will probably not be a thing until sometime after OW2’s launch.

Even if it’s something like only being able to edit the current maps in Overwatch to some extent, that will still be revolutionary for the game and the Workshop community.

I read the whole article. Although the bit where he mentions “humans” is a bit concerning, thinking he’s a robot like something out of Next Gen (Netflix movie), other than that, he seems like he’s the guy who’s spilling the truth. He truly cares about the game, has a strong passion for it, and seemingly looks like he’s the guy making the game for the people, for the fans, not for the money. (We’ll see what happens in the future to see if his words ring true, like it is seeming like) He even leaked a couple of things for us, a massive thing I’ve noticed was there might potentially be something that comes into OW2 that was as massive as the release of OW. We’re talking over 20 characters and 12 maps added into OW2, close to doubling what we have now. That is crazy, if it’s true! Do take this with a grain of salt. Just a theory.

(sry for the long paragraph with no cut-off, couldn’t find a fair spot to cut it off without sounding too jagged or something of the such)

It has to have been sudden otherwise he would have had a smaller role at Blizzcon. This year’s event was online only without even a stream chat so it was the perfect environment to do things without any live negative feedback.

I have a feeling it’s clans, it’s the only thing left that people have been asking for since year 1 that isn’t in the game already or known to be in development.

i mean, not like he can say much there without losing his job. still concerning, but I have faith that he’ll do well with what he’s working with.

That’s a typical “How to dodge saying anything 101”

Standard avoiding-any-specifics, except the “big new features and systems coming soon” thing, I guess. Can’t wait to see how it ends up something like you having to choose your hero before queueing for a role, except if you choose DPS.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up for a map editor, even for OW2.

From the way Jeff used to talk about it, it was extremely unlikely to ever happen. That would be the single best thing they could add to the game that would blow me away all by itself, but I’ve given up hope that we’ll ever get it.

He did not directly answer any questions. What even.

3 times the question was about monetization and such. He just answers with “ah we’re so excited to work on this game”

Answer. The. Question. Aaron.

Also a fault of the interviewer. What happened to proper journalism that can say “stop rambling, you dodged the question. So I ask again and this time please give a direct answer”

Oh boy! Another Ion Hazzikostas!

That is not a turret for Torb, but a pick-up power up any player can use and activate during story missions for Overwatch 2. It was one of my favorite pick ups when I played the demo as the AI seemed to ignore it a lot.
