Source? I don’t remember that being confirmed.
Jeff will do regular development updates for this project
Really? Sure like 3 years ago.
There might be a contract where he can’t say certain things.
It was through the OW Content Creator Discord server which is probably why not too many people heard about it.
Blizzard is Activision.
They’ve been merged before Overwatch was even in development. And before the merger, Blizzard was owned by another large corporation. Blizzard hasn’t been independent since the early 90s.
Stop with the hysteria.
Ew no the majority of the community does NOT want that and half of the Mercy mains do NOT want that either. This Mercy main included
That would make more people annoyed than it would happy. It’s gone and never coming back, stop asking for it.
Huge dodge on the “How long did you know Jeff was going to be leaving?” question.
It was sudden. I hope Jeff is OK.
I don’t think it’s really within good manners to talk about someone else’s personal stuff. When (or why) Jeff left is kinda personal imo. That’s what I thought honestly.
Agreed. If there was a graceful handover of responsibilities over a period of time (at least a month is typical), they’d have mentioned it - that’s my point.
The things left unsaid are important.
Cant say that for sure, in many companies the future and the past of a former employee can only be revealed by people working there after the person does so. After all it involves the person future career.
Blizz had autonomy internally for a number of years after the acquisition. Started eroding after morhaime stepped down.
They’re still a separate developer studio under Activision-Blizzard.
Again, they haven’t been a indie studio for decades.
Im sure this guy will bring overwatch from a c rating to a c+ rating.
Well… Yeah? I dunno about the “indie studio” aspect. Frankly, I don’t care. My point is that they’re historically more independent than what you stated.
Then you agreed with me and tossed in that indie studio comment. Perhaps you think you’re interacting with someone else.
Uhhhhhhh is the new feature coming…a map editor?
More independent than how? They’ve always had a big conglomerate overseeing them.
They had Morhaine there? Big deal. He always had to answer to the corporation that owned them.
Try again.
People really need to learn how professional adults behave in the real world before speculating wildly that we are all doomed.
The guy didn’t say he’d be our noble champion against the dark lord Activision? OK, why would he? You know he works there, right? You think he’s going to say, “Hey, nice to meet you guys, I’m the new director. BTW, my company is awful and I hate all my bosses.” Get a grip. He’s not just anonymously posting to some forum, he’s a professional doing his job. He even (gasp) wants Activision to do well, and make money! The horror!
And the panic over the term “mid-cycle” is extremely naïve. It doesn’t mean, “This game is at the exact halfway point of development.” It means they are actively developing the game, as opposed to being in the final stages (QA/polish) – which we knew already. They aren’t sitting on a finished game for a year, they are obviously still working on it. We’ve known since January they’d be working on it all year.
My favorite segment…
Q: In the actual blog post, the announcement was made, there was a line that says new features are coming into the live game very soon.
A: Yes.
That or a sword hanging over his head.
In any case, there was definitely a “toe the line” vibe to anything even vaguely related to activision.
