except for overwatch 2 where I can go 14 losses in a row in a competitive??? what the hell is that?
It could be rust or tilt, happens a lot when playing for long hours. I myself cannot play as good as I can for more than one hour, or when I’m tilted.
You had to be someone else’s wins. After your 14 losses, then magically it will be your turn to win, even though you changed nearly nothing about your play habits, and some one else will get to lose. Then after a few hours, nobody has climbed or gotten anywhere.
The match maker is like a ponzi scheme. Robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Never in my life I tilted so hard that I would lose on purpose, I only play support and will never allow myself to do that. I always try to give my best to my teammates but they don’t care when they are getting countered or they are tilted themselves, especially tanks with low mental after going 1v5 3 times in a row. Even in ow 1 I never had this issue with so many losses in a row. Hell, I didn’t even had this issue with first 2 seasons of overwatch 2
Nope. I get this as well in Diamond with top healing and assist stats as Baptiste but the tank either refuses to switch or the DPS refuse to counter enemy heroes so we end up losing. So I just completed my 25 wins for comp rewards and haven’t touched comp since.
Well tilting does not mean throwing. You can be tilted but still do your best to win. Tilt just makes you not think clearly and make more hasty decisions, deteriorating your performance.
Also yes, your teammates being tilted can indeed result in more loses, that is true.
Support heroes did receive a lot of for the first two seasons, both directly and indirectly. I would say it is much harder to play support now. You had a little more agency in the first season as a support.
They could be intertwined, some games are the result of poor teammates or some are because of tilt.
However I was not there so tilt is just my theory. I just know that if I play non stop I eventually get rusty which makes me play worse.
My worst loss streak while getting back up to GM after decaying to diamond was 5. It’s really not that bad, the games are unbalanced and unfun but for every Bs game you will get a free win so it evens out, doesn’t keep u from ranking up
I’ve lost ~20 games in a row over several days before. Fell from like 3900 to like 2900. I lost several 6v5 games. I played the same heroes as normal. It seemed almost impossible, IMO.
or it could be SBMM, EOMM, DDA…and have nothing to do with the player, but rather their monetization mode. they want ppl to chase through lows end on highs and buy stuff, part of the retention and churn psychology.
just look at those patents. rigged af + fake pixels + deadpop
If it makes you feel better, I lost a lot of games in a row during Sigma’s release because they nerfed my main (Symmetra) after a week.
At the time it felt like you either had to go Sigma or lose. I can relate to the feeling of matches feeling impossible.
Well if I do something stupid during a match, it is certainly and issue with the player (myself). Yea the matchmaking can give you bad teammates but that should not excuse human error.
Overwatch is not an easy game, people will slip up. Also the biggest issue with the matchmaker is not because of any patents, it just built terribly. Funny enough most Blizzard games tend to have bad matchmaking which makes me think they just use a similar one throughout all their games.
The i/o doesn’t even work (or it’s throttled via DDA). And they ship lobbies with different i/o mechanisms (crossplay). So how is this a player skill issue, when the player skill is like a drop in some ocean of code that rigs all kinds of params.
I mean thumb players vs. M+KB players hosted across narnia?
skill issue isn’t a thing anymore with all the modern tech and patents that just kick in to aim-compensate, handicap teams with good/bad players, mmr rigging, engagement metrics, etc.
Likewise how is it a matchmaking issue if I rust or a teammates refuses to cooperate? I’ve lost games because people looked at my profile, saw I mained Sym and then throw the game.
Or again, I lost games because I did something dumb or even just a poor synergy in our comp. Like our off-tank resufing to swap off Ball or even our DPS refusing to swap off Sombra, in a comp game. The latter of which even left the game because I selected her.
Trust me, I wish the matchmaker can fix people.
Due to my lack of friends, I have no experince with crossplay’s matchmaker. As it is only enabled if you are in a party with someone from a console.
I’m saying there are things that aren’t human error or even human skill deltas or even team skill issues.
They’re tech issues, that buffer away so much of the raw human talent, agency, expression. You’re just capped or throttled in what you can/can’t do, because of how bloated and broken, rigged and obfuscated their systems are.
That’s exactly why ppl have private profile
which is why taking low ping google servers offline was a mistake, unless of course for reconfiguration or maintenance. but even as google’s servers were, players would’ve STILL won more, than current dumpster server center.
And I am just saying humans errors should still be accountable. I know the matchmaker is awful, shoddy and does not work.
However if I do a error that results in my team losing, I should be accountable, not the matchmaker. Its bad but it cannot determine the condition or the state of mind of another human being.
At the time overbuff use to be able to display your full stats even with a private profile. I thought people would not waste their time actually checking players with it but I was wrong. Which is how they found me.
Thankfully now overbuff will actually lock your stats too if your profile is private.
Yeah I had 14 losses in season 1, it was definitely demoralizing. Somehow I still ended the season in GM because I’m not a quitter but no lie, I was about to uninstall. It was right after I was on a 14 win streak to but hey blizzard claims 50/50 doesn’t exist lol
One day I had 10 wins in a row and the enxt day I had 10 losses in a row (it was a start of season 2) but in season 3 I had inly lose streaks, in the last 2 days I lost 23 games and won only 10 or 15 I don’t even remember lol
There was definitely a change in the matchmaker, or at the very least the increase of people messed it up.
I played actively at the end of OW1 into OW2, and my win rate has gone down by a decent amount despite me being arguably better at 5v5 than 6v6.
Did you not know that the bad matchmaking only works against people….nobody benefits from it ever!!
