Not easy to answer… Blizz does not publicly disclose its current figures, and the current financial model targets “whale” players who reliably spend more frequently than the rest of the FTP player base.

Blizzard had to buff tanks to raid boss levels just to get 1 person to play the role in 5v5 and even now queue times can be excessive. 5v5 is good for tank queues really isn’t that solid of an argument. What really improved the queue times was the loosening of the matchmaker in comparison to OW1.
literally saved quickplay queues, they’d be at like 10 minutes lol

Yea, but neither was RQ, and I can get why. At least, 5 v 5 is still much faster. The loosening restriction helped, but 5 v 5 format made it faster.
OQ was still honestly the fastest before RQ

My comp queue times aren’t too dissimilar to OW1 now. Somewhat shorter but the experience of having some raidboss speed at me all game is a significant downgrade.
You’re EU, you play on a dead server. Queue’s in NA for dps in ow1 were 7-10 minutes for quickplay dps, now they’re 2-3 minutes for dps.
That’s comp toast, QP is very different, and back then, I was honestly seeing 5-8 minutes + even with priority pass. 10 if I was really unlucky.
And OQ queue times was 1-2 minutes in comparison.
Matchmaking was nuked. It’s not just a comp thing.

Yea toast, but I value having faster games cause I’m actually playing them.
I hated OW1 wait time, and comparing then and now. I’ll take OW2 queue times than OW1.
I value match quality more. I’d rather wait an extra few minutes than have some raidboss speeding at me while teamed with people who shouldn’t really be in the same match.

I suppose that’s up to our difference, I just can’t take waiting. It’s QP man, I don’t want to sit waiting. I rather play the game, at least I have more control that way.

I choose whatever gives me quicker queues. I don’t give myself the same amount of free time to sit in queue as I have in the past. I play support, I don’t like QP, I don’t want to smurf.
When did OW1 ever have good matchmaking, it has always had hidden MMR. You carry or lose

if whales are already eager to spend $20 on skin if they were cheaper they would spend more “is just $5 more not big deal” and people who never paid could be now at least pay once, and because for example if a skin costs $5 is not much per seson or per week they could keep spending, and everyone wins, every skin avalible forever, i would gladly spend money on skins if game werent a scam that didnt delivered what promised so i will not fund it and prices were cheper
compre ow1 queue times with ow2 is not fair and relevant because ow1 was abandoned for 3 years, was paywalled, everyone was waiting for ow2, and ow2 is free to play, there was never a chance to let ow1 be fixed, if became free to play would improve queue times, and yes, ow2 queue times in comp are not that different from ow1, and at least me in arcade have reached 40 minutes, something never happened in ow1, always was instantaneous

OW1 main block for the RQ times was finding the secondary tank, and balance changes wasn’t helping as tank scarcity got lesser. I got around it by playing OQ and abandoned QP completely due to how long it took.
I also honestly don’t have a lot of faith that Blizz balance would’ve fixed it anyways.

At this point, Overwatch 2 has already had better longevity than Overwatch 1.
OW1 was in terminal decline 12 months after release. OW2 still has a growing player base. They are not the same.

Not even, i’m always the better dps on my team. It’s annoying, that’s why I miss season 3 when they’d put you with gm’s
That loose matchmaking was crazy, but the most fun games you could dunk on gm kids lol
