I really don‘t understand how such a powerful hero like Sombra is as easy to play as she is now.
The hacking ability is as powerful as an ultimate ability( if not more), and it is on a 8 seconds cooldown with a 5 seconds duration!
Most heroes are useless without their abilities because this is how overwatch is designed. A hacked Enemy is either a dead enemy or an enemy that requires a huge amount of peeling from his teammate in order to keep him alive.
So the value you can get from this ability every teamfight is simply outrageous.
Worst of all is how easy it is to hack an Enemy. Hacking does not require any mechanical skill.
Sombra has immense value besides Hack. Being perma invisible in priceless in terms of scouting ,gathering info and having an advantage in 1v1s.
I‘m ok with that, i believe that each hero should be different.
Her translocator is also a powerful „you can‘t kill me“ ability. I‘m also ok with it.
Her EMP is understandable in terms of impact. It is a powerful ultimate, but that‘s how utimates are meant to be. The only problem with this Ult is how fast you can build it.
Such a powerful Ultimate should imo have the longest time to build.
So my 2 main suggestions are the following:
1/ make the hacking ability a skill ability that requires mechanical skills or that is harder to land in general. Otherwise increase the cooldown and reduce the hack duration.
2/ increase the cost of the EMP significantly to make it match or exceed the Sound barrier of Lucio and Zarya‘s Grav.
And one last thing. Wrecking ball is just an ult battery without his movement. I think he should remain able to stay in ball form even if hacked,( with no other cooldown available) so that it‘s possible for him to retreat and for his team to peel for him, because Wrecking Ball is all about being far from his team doing his own thing, unlike the remaining tanks.
No counter in the game should be as hard as what Sombra is toward Hammond.
Sombra’s the kind of hero that’s overpowered on paper, but garbage in practice.
Play her, understand why she doesn’t work. And then use that knowledge against her team.
I knew that there was no way i was going to be able to kill Sombra, but i also knew that if i can just keep her cloaked, i can consider it a win.
And we did win. EMP? In case you haven’t noticed, she spent so much time cloaked that her EMP was only charging passively.
Pick up Sombra, understand how she works, or rather, how she doesn’t work, and exploit it. You’ll find that it’s so easy to remove Sombra’s value that she’s just an annoyance.
2 nerfs for the worst performing hero in the game. Right.
And just to point out, every time you nerf hack, you make the tanking experience worse. By turning it into a skill shot, you remove the viability of hacking a DPS and more hacks will go to tanks and supports, who will always remain the easiest to hack.
hack should never have been able to disable all abilities. either it just disables barriers, mobility, and building only. OR they make hack more of a skill shot like how hog hook works

as of right now sombra is one of the worst designed heroes in ow ever, who is just a teleporting hackbot who farms emp. I’m surprised she lasted this long in her current state
number 1 counter is torbjorn turret, Sombra can’t do anything while it’s on and even if she destroys it, she will be low and need to go back giving you more than enough time to build another one.
Torbjorn primary is very good in close-medium range so Sombra will experience a burst with the turret damage forcing her to go back.
From the tank category the best counter is Zarya, your primary is a great spy check, bubble cancel hack immediately and emp gives you 80 energy on spot.
Just make sure you have bubble before emp since an emp without a bubble will leave you with 200hp on spot.
On the support category Moira is the best counter, you can use fade to escape hack, your primary is instant and has no reload letting you cancel hack immidatly.
If you need other counters I would suggest heroes that don’t rely a lot on abilities or has fast enough shots to cancel hack.
D.va,Winston,Soldier:76,Symmetra,Junkrat,Symmetra,Mei,Mercy.
Even without killing her all of the heroes in this list don’t need their abilities or can just stop hack.
Sombra is a throw pick right now ( since 2018 July )
Sombra is easy to counter - be more careful - cancel her hack and it comes to 2 sec CD
And when u hacked u still can shoot - what makes it useless for 50% characters
Can you prove to me that Sombra is a powerful character using hard data as opposed to just describing her kit, something that would make Bastion sound like the most OP character in OW?
I hope you guys watch OWL sometimes to see how dominant she can be in an high level team environment. The only counter to Sombra in OWL is another sombra.
And sombra is the type of heroes which is annoying to play against and not really fun to watch.
I never get upset when a Hog hooks me or a sniper headshot me or a Ana sleeps me. All those are skill based actions that have counters in a way or another. Sombra just hacks you from nowhere and you can no longer play the game for 5 seconds (if you ever stay alive). I don’t matter if hack is a skill based ability, or if it not as oppressive as it is right now.
Sombra’s the prime example of the separation between OWL and ladder. She’s so bad that not even the GM’s can make her work. Again, NOT EVEN THE TOP 1%. Literally 0% of the playerbase can make her work consistently.
Dude, there’s such a thing as setting the bar too high.
I‘m not actually asking to make her not viable. Her current design is just flawed. The best thing is to redesign her hack ability to a skill ability or to make it less oppressive (more balanced cooldown or a partial hack instead of a total one).
I watch OWL and i do care about OWL. A sombra meta is not a fun meta, even the pros don‘t like playing her and are just forced to play her because how broken she can be.
She has negative winrates in OWL and even if she didn’t, if you had any grasp of the character you’d know that Sombra is a terrible counter to Sombra. Not only that but even if we ignore every single damn thing and blindly agree with you, the fact that she is only dominant in OWL disproves your own words of how easy she is to play. How can she be easy to play if nobody besides pros can utilize her?
She is also nowhere near the top used heroes. So give it a rest
