the strongest ultimate in the game right now is earth shatter and its only counter is an another reinhardt. its absurd. the ultimate is absurd and nobody is going to react to 0.45 animation time . there aren’t many abilities that have snappy enough animation or mobility spells that can get out of it. its no fun dying to an earth shatter and rein having it immediately the next time your back from spawn because its absurd how fast he can charge it.
its far too strong. its charge rate is way too fast. its no fun getting earth shattered from behind the damn payload. if damage ults don’t do that then earth shatter shouldn’t do that.
I think Zarya Bubble kinda borderline blocks but the cast time vs shatter. Brig also has shield. . . but Orisa/Sigma/Winston Shield works too but its a matter of walking forward for Rien which is alot easier to deal with than another rien. Any Stun based CC can stop him but it aint exactly easy.
0.45 seconds or whatever his time is isn’t enough time to react to earth shatter when rein doesn’t have to do anything special like reaper walking into the middle of the team . you know hes going to ult. rein is just standing there your doing your job and he just wins the fight because earth shatter is up
there is absolutely no time to react to it. 0.45 seconds and the fact that the voiceline of the ult doesn’t start until the end of the animation.
its way too strong. and arguably the best ultimate in the game right now along with mei ult. i would say its stronger than me ult because its bigger and mei ult gives you a lot more time to react to it.
It’s also buggy as all get out; I regularly get hit by shatter when I clearly should not be. Like, I jump up on a car and still get hit with it even though I’m not even on the ground, or it travels around a corner because the bounding box of the object isn’t as large as it appears in game or something. I’ve also seen shatters that should have hit me not, but those are fewer it seems than the ones that Rein gets and shouldn’t have ever since they made the change to it last to fix the bugginess. Now it seems really lenient in Rein’s favor, whereas before it seemed a bit the opposite.
That would explain why I tend to miss my fades. . . I usually use voice cues so if there is a delay. . . welp i’m screwed.
As for Mei, sorta agree. Especially if she uses walls to prevent ppl from running away. But at least zarya can bubble to free herself and one other person.
Brig, mei, pharah, moira, reaper, zarya, orisa, can all reliably avoid earth shatter. Then with there being 3 dps now people are gonna play more spread out if they are mcree, solder, widow ect. i dont think shatter needs to be nerfed.
The jumping up on the car one really surprised/frustrated me, but I think what happened was that the game registered at the moment Rein was hitting Q who was on the ground and in the ‘shatter zone’, and then all those players get affected by shatter at the end of his animation- because I got knocked down while on top of the car, so I was just up but stunned still. I’m not sure if that was it but idk, maybe that’s how they coded it?
rein is the entire meta atm because hes far too strong. and half of the reason is earth shatter . simply speaking the animation is far too short considering he can just use it when enemy barriers are down.
Earth Shatter is fine.
The entire game is based around risk to reward as far as tactical use of very powerful ULT moves to control areas of the map and win team fights. Do you use it here or there? This fight or wait?
it doesn’t mater if it’s Earth Shatter that drops 3 of your team or Reaper ULT that knocks out the main support + a dps. It’s still in most cases a lost team fight.
That’s 100% meant to happen.
and anyone who plays Rein will tell you that the bulk of earth shatters are as telegraphed as any other ULT in game. I can normally call the fight it’s going to happen and where.
Most of you just don’t play main tank and either don’t know what to look for or are not playing attention.
I don’t think you’re suppose to react to it, but instead position yourself correctly to deal with it. That is, try your best not to have the whole team bunched together.
