They look caucasian to me. Their large brows and prominent nasal bridges aren’t common amongst Asians. Their skin and hair color do look somewhat Japanese though (but not when Genji has green hair 
).

They did look like Japanese in the comic but with a little western comic style in it not Japanese manga style.
Reading this made my head hurt a bit…
In today’s age people aren’t exactly ‘walking stereotypes’ due to migration and integration.
Wait. So what ethnic ‘group’ are we talking about, first.

Asians? Because you must be new to the concept of Mongolian traits (larger brows, wider faces to start).

Japanese? Because they vary so much from southern Okinawan islanders and mixes found there to the northern Hokkaido with the native Ainu populations, which most wouldn’t even ‘recognize’ as being ‘Japanese’.

Right!? I mean, I hate the hero because he’s incredibly unbalanced. But all I could think of in the cinematic was “unffffffffffff”.

There’s a cosplayer I follow who looks just like him. 
Even has the super intense eyes.
He’s even done Casual Hanzo because he wants to give me a heart attack.
