Negativity towards Doomfist - Why?

Hello,

Let me introduce myself as a diamond who mains Doomfist with a 57% win rate with him. That’s high considering he gets countered by a good chunk of heroes.

With that out of the way, let me get to my point. Recently, I been playing Doomfist in comp as a second or first DPS. Usually, I will get a pick or two. All good right? Well, something happens where lets say, the enemy breaks through our lines, right? The first thing people do, is blame the Doomfist. Even after I told them that I got a pick or two, they refuse to acknowledge that I contributed to the team. Ok, yeah, one game, it’s whatever. The next game, the same thing happens, but with different people.

Why Doomfist though? Constantly people are hating on Doomfist when he can seriously have an impact on the game. Is there something I am missing? What’s with all the Doomfist hate?

It’s not that Doomfist isn’t impactful, it’s that he isn’t AS impactful as several other picks.

Off meta, that’s all.

You get hate for playing every off meta hero.

I love Doomfist (Even if I don’t play him in comp, playing off meta in comp is rough I prefer to chill in arcade and quick play) and tbh it’s one of the heroes I like babysitting the most when you help him he can kill almost everyone, he’s a glass cannon.

But not everyone thinks the same as me and most of the time they blame off meta so Doomfist in your case.

Strange, I rarely get complaints on my Doomfist account.

I disagree. Sure, he’s harder to pick up than some of the other heroes, but I’ve seen many games where Doomfist has had quite the impact.

That being said, though - that’s the reason. People have a negative bias towards heroes that are more difficult to perform well with. Some are too stubborn to realize when someone is doing fine on a particular hero - it gives them someone to blame besides themselves when things aren’t going well.

Isn’t player skill of the hero that makes the bigger impact? If Soldier, for example, is more impactful than Doomfist, but can’t play him well versus a Doomfist pro, such as ChipSa. Who would make a bigger impact? Well, Doomfist of course, because he is much more effective than the Soldier.

The best Doomfists do what mediocre Genji players can accomplish.

If you’re legitimately helping your team, which is different than getting stats, don’t sweat it. There’s a common problem with automatically blaming DPS in this game, and it’s amplified if you’re off meta.

I had a game last night with a 5 stack that wouldn’t even engage the enemy team. Zero space or tanking. I went Tracer so that I could actually leave spawn and apply some pressure. I was told how useless I was for the entire game, even though we had an Orisa shielding herself in spawn while I was picking off healers. If you try t9 communicate and people are just being rude, ignore them and report them.

I strongly agree, the people want to vent their anger on someone they are biased against.

mostly because he have big hitbox, have to go melee > easy to kill.

umm…your win rate is 52 percent not 57

I find him to be meta, especially since the enemies don’t really expect it, yet he can be game changing.

You don’t see him in pro matches that much so he’s considered off meta, that’s how it works for most people.

Doomfist has the advantage to fit in a dive comp so I’d say he’s the “best” off meta hero.

Strange, for me it’s 57% in-game.

it happens to me everytime even though I open every fight. it always goes good for me, the pressure against the enemy is there. is just dumb peole making assumptions who cant even understand whats happening in their matches. its in every tier. everyone blames the hanzo, the doomfist, the mei. well, those are the guys who are stagnated in their rank. the multiple times ive got that whiole playing doomfist, is always one guy, fortunaly, almost always the rest of team acknowledge my contribution. hell, one time a lucio one trick blamed me after killing 4 people one overtime and winning us the point, the next round we lost, he immidiately jumped on me. i still remember that carry.
people need to stop thinking they know whats actually happening in the game, cause most of the times, is not about not having dps… its the plays, the tanks not being in the front line, the team not being agressive enough, letting them through, not getting enough healing, one guy going too deep and the solution being just to slow down a bit, people not complementing their teammates plays, peole not focusing. those are the reasons people lose more so than dps lacking, at least in mid diamond and going up. the ego problem in overwatch is real, and things can be solved so easily if they just think with a cold, rational and mature mind

An off meta pick of course means you are the reason the team is losing. I mean it couldn’t possibly be any other reason.

is not even that, its about consistency. its hard to make a play and survive long enough with his cooldowns against people playing as a team, while his kit funtions in a way that separates you from your teammates. however, when the play happens, they are big. 2 picks on one fight and the teamfight is won. the problem that that happens 30% of the total match time. ive main doomfist enough to know all his traits

I mean yeah, but I am contributing to the team by getting picks and punishing people who get close.
