Need Venture tips

Hihi, just got into picking up Venture and honestly they truly are so fun to play. If anyone has tips on how you should generally play them I’d appreciate the knowledge!

So far I have been playing Venture as a flanker/dive hero. That has been working most of the time. I just have slight troubles with confusing which ability to engage with at times and how I should utilize my ultimate if there are buildables/shields blocking it.

I only find it harder to play them when the enemy team is playing together, sort of how Sombra feels when trying to pick enemies off in a group. So idk what to really do when that occurs, should I just play passively and use drill dash as a form of defense for my teammates or to displace enemies? Cause that’s kinda what I’ve been doing, it’s just hard to confirm kills when the enemy starts grouping.

Last thing, I am pretty decent at the hero overall but I think I’m struggling a lot with the burrow (most notably when to use it against enemies, not for escaping) and the ultimate. The ult truly feels bad to use if I’m being honest, you can’t use it while jumping, it doesn’t travel down steep edges like shatter does, it feels slow to use, and it’s not that great at close range. So anything would help with that.

You can use your other abilities while you are ulting so you have the flexibility to move quickly around the field to find a better position to fire your ult from.

And concerning which ability to use as an escape it is mostly down to the situation. don’t use burrow if the enemy has a knockback or stun available or if your health is very low. because they can keep you stuck in the burrow animation and just kill you easily, only use dash when there is cover or high ground available close to your position, don’t all in with your abilities unless the enemy is isolated, and you are sure you can kill them because venture is incredibly vulnerable when their abilities are on cooldown.

Finally ventures main damage sources are the ability combos so practice them, you can use melee to animation cancel the primary fire but you can’t interrupt the melee with primary. The dash cam be animation cancelled by anything and you can jump at the end of it to stay in melee range of your target (as long as you aren’t in the air and sometimes it is better to not charge up your aoe when you leave burrow, because the enemies don’t get launched upwards with you, only booped away.

Avoid Cassidy like the plague.
