Hello. i rcrntly tried roadhog cuz im tired of reaper getting hard countered by every other hero.
And I LOVE ROADHOG!!! damn he is so much fun… and I actually get a decent amount of kills with him.
However i am having a hard time one shotting people after i hook them.
I am somewhat decent at landing my hooks, but its weird cuz i cant seem to kill people in one shot like other roadhogs do.
So my question is… after i hook them… do i use left click or right click? do i am for the head or the chest? its kinda weird man… last game i hooked a widow who had 100 HP and i shot her in the chest but somehow she lived thru it…
There is also a small amount of time before you absolutely need to press the fire button. This can allow you to quickly adjust to make sure the blast can hit whoever you hooked as well as possible… each hero is different and sometimes it’s not easy to get all the shrapnel into them.
Take ONE step forward as soon as the hook drops them in front of you, there is a short stun that allows this and every pellet counts. Plus melee obvs. Btw, you’ll want a teammate that can help near by if you go for a dry hook because those are rng, unless it’s a big boi.
What you do first, is you use your right click right before you hook to animation cancel it, walk forward, shoot at throat (or head depending on the character) and melee.
After hooking, left click in the neck area to get the most amount of pellets to hit the target with still a chance of a headshot. Then, immediately after, melee them to get any extra damage you might need. Other than that, you will get unlucky with some combos and about half the time a 200 hp person will die from it, so don’t get discouraged!
I’m a roadhog main with over 100 hrs on him on PC. the best combo is to right click your target, hook, left click, then mele.
or you can kill most squishies and DPS by just hooking, left click then mele, you won’t get the kills often unless you insure he mele.
roadhogs hook is 20 meters long, his secondary fire (right click) can shoot that far too, but right click does the most damage 10 meters from your target, anywhere closer than that you should always left click.
also important to note, when you pull someone with your hook and shoot them with left, you need to still aim for headshots. i can’t tell you how much that matters.
so go into practice range and practice you combos. learn positioning of you close up shot, then try it out in quickplay or a custom game when you feel ready. good luck! the world could always use more hog players.
Right click and melee, also another cheeky strat I’ve picked up with Roadhog. Do the Hi-Hook. Make yourself seem friendly by saying Hi, then hook them as soon as they let their guard down and combo.
so, as roadhog, i fail too secure kills with hook against players with defensive cooldowns, like mei or genji. is this normal or am i doing something wrong.
sometimes genji gets deflect off before i can shoot.
