Need help 3080 underperforming!

I’ve just got my 3080 and already did the usual things you should be doing.
System specs: rtx 3080 12gb, 16gb ram at 3600mhz, R9 3900x at 4.3ghz
Like i said i did the usual things i always do.
Clean installed drivers, max performance in drivers and loads of other things, but playing at 1080p/1440p and locking my fps to 237 due to gsync, the card keeps dropping frames, even though everything is set to low but the textures.

Does it drop because the card is not utilized and refuses to work when it actually needs to (teamfights etc) or is it dropping frames because I’m technically forcing the card to do less work due to the cap?

I don’t really know what else i can do to make the card more stable and actually boost up and stay there, because at 1080p it refuses to boost at all while at 1440p it sometimes does it, but doesn’t keep it long enough and therefore drops under my cap.

It just feels extremely underwhelming and I’m coming from a gtx 1080, that basically did the same job, at 1080p 237fps that is.

Everything looks fine temp wise, i haven’t noticed anything weird with my cpu nor ram either.

Do i need to enable specific settings inside of the game that tax the card more so it’ll boost and, well, hopefully be more stable and not drop frames , if so what should i change, I’m literally willing to try anything at this point, it’s just so frustrating to see people with lets say a 2080, play at 250fps without a single drop in heavy fights, while my card refuses to do that…

I know this was a long post, but I’m desperate, i took a long break and decided to give the game another chance but obviously dealing with this is quite frustrating, any help is welcome!

I appreciate it, really!

Have also freezes after last patch with nvidia 2060… looks like they really failed something…

still no solution found on my end yet.

At 1080p, aren’t you more CPU bound than GPU bound, especially with your 3080? Maybe it’s your CPU that’s holding back your PC. That’s my best guess. Check what your CPU and GPU utilization looks like using Nvidia’s performance overlay.

I think you need to look at his specs he posted. I can pretty much say its not a CPU issue. He is using a R9 3900X which is a really good processor. I would update all your drivers on your system.

In all honesty I would be checking your cables for your monitors. If you are using HDMI replace with a new version of the cable. If you are using display port replace the display port cable. It is also possible you have a bad port on the back of your video card try switching the port to another slot if you are using a single monitor

Yeah, I saw that. No harm in OP still checking out the CPU utilization to make sure the CPU is running well though. At 1080p, anything negatively affecting CPU performance is going to have a bigger impact on the frame rate than the GPU.

It made no difference if playing at 1080p or 1440p, cpu was never above 30%
Both card and cpu never got warmer than 60 degrees as well.

I’ve also checked if playing with SMT made a difference but nope, same with cppc on/off, which in theory uses your best cores on a cpu.

One thing I’ve actually noticed, when the performance cripples, i saw crash mailer 64 being active and once i killed it, the fps fluctuations somewhat disappeared.

I still need to test if i can push for max fps once the task is killed, I’ll try that later today.

What OS are you playing on? Windows 10 or 11? Im also having stuttering and framedrop on the latest patch, which never happend before, Im uaing 5900x with 3080. Windows11 22H2(Insider Beta) Im not sure the problem is from the game or OS.

i’m on the latest w10 build.
literally tried everything at this point, and i mean everything.
frames still drop and keeping a stable framerate is not possible, no clue wth is going on with my card.
how am i not able to keep 400 or even 300 fps, when back in the days it was possible on older hardware, simply don’t get it.
Thinking about getting the new 5800x3d but i’m sure it does nothing in the end.

I think this is likely an ow issue, maybe dev can fix it next patch. This happend before in 2019, there was a patch that made everyone getting framedrop.

I think I found the issue. I was having very bad stutters in workshop mode, and I noticed that when the game load in a new hero(player or bot) It will have a stutter, so mode like gun game has very very stutters that made the game unplayable.
