I am stuck in bronze around 1200sr and can’t climb. Please tell me some general advice to get better.

I usually play support mostly mercy and zenyatta
Pocket your tanks all the time. When there is no one to heal, dmg boost the dps.
what is this advice.
dont do this mercy isnt a tank healer, damage boost dps and try to keep your whole team alive
as mercy the tanks shouldn’t really be your job to heal unless the other healer is dead

if the other healer is lucio then your throwing (mercy lucio is probably worst heal comp except for lucio zen)
You can’t get out as mercy. That’s the harsh truth. Mercy’s strength is damage boosting and your dps suck. Ana is your best bet, maybe lucio, maybe Zen if you are good. Moira should be good if this buff goes through.

Who do you imagine the other healers in bronze are? In your head do you imagine highly skilled ana and bap players? If so, stop imagining that. Anas in bronze miss most of their shots and baps are too busy shooting the enemy to heal you. Mercy is a main healer in bronze.

I dont expect them to be good I just expect them to be able to decently keep their tanks up
The way how I climbed from diamond to masters was using a 3 strike system. Basically if I lost 3 matches I would stop playing comp for a few hours or I would stop playing for the whole day. If I won 2 games at any point before hitting the third strike, I could remove a strike and keep going.
Here are some other good ideas on how to climb…
- Basic Callouts: Even just saying who you are healing or saying your revive is ready, will increase team effort overall vs a quite team with no talking.
- Try to keep your beam as extended as you can. If you keep your healing/damage boosting beam at a distance from your teammates, you can use the range as a way to escape a dive character. This also protects you from Zarya and Sigma, and Junkrat ultimates.
- Prioritize healing on certain targets: I recommend trying to keep teammates alive vs letting them die then going for a risky revive. Generally I try to prioritize any character who gets into the critical health zone. If multiple teammates are low, try heal splitting. Where you quickly shift between healing the critical targets instead of healing one at a time to max. Also remember to always heal DVA mech last, even when she is critically low, but prioritize baby DVA.

If need be pick up bap but also if using zen discord any key looking heroes and focus them down and if you end up mercy look to enable dps if they can at least do something and help tanks if need be if Lucio focus on saving ult for other ults such as flux and such same ult thing could be said for zen

It’s worth bearing in mind that at that SR you’re likely to have a support partner not doing their job, and find Mercy’s heals too weak to keep everyone up.
It’s worth learning a support with big heals too (Id suggest moira, but Ana or Bap works too if your aim is decent!)
As someone who is a Master support player, I will have to say this that you do have to learn how to improvise because your tools are limited to your teams capacity, especially as a Mercy main
Damage boost is incredible - but if your team is terrible at hitting their targets, well you may as well pull you pistol out and shoot the enemy yourself (don’t take that too literally)
But there is one golden rule that applies to every rank - Don’t die, do whatever you can in your power to not die (if you can’t avoid dying then at least try and make it a suicide), you are more important than that useless McCree who ran in front of the Reinhardt shield and died, only res him if it’s safe
Constantly ask yourself “Am I safe here, what is the biggest threat”, your positioning is crucial
Focus only on that and you’ll heal more, because you’re not dead so yeah, simple thing to focus on which is what I always recommend to people wanting to climb

Don’t die. Very general advice I know but think of your life before anyone else’s and out of bronze you will go. This means keep out of sight of the enemy at all times and stop going for the risky resurrections. Beam uptime is also important meaning have your beam always be doing something on someone.(Swapping beam targets to do so)
edit: Comment 2 above mine is really good use it. As for his damage boost comment that is 100% true at high ranks damage boost become more and more important. At bronze I would say its hard to make use of because of the inconsistency of the dps in your rank so probably need to heal bot more so your dps have more time to land more shots.

Don’t play Mercy you rely too much on other people when you are playing her and people at this rank are not what you call the best at taking advantage of it.
I used to have a friend who was in bronze for a long time and he had to play a different hero to climb out of there.
Not saying it’s not possible to climb out using mercy, but it’s gonna be much harder than many of the other supports.

Haven’t played Mercy in bronze but I have in Silver to Diamond games. Also in a team. I would say that for mercy to get out of hell you need to live and keep everyone alive longer. In silver when things on your team just never died and you stayed alive yourself things will almost always turn in your favor. You will feel like a heal bot but that is how you get up to high gold low plat. From there you focus on ability/ult use (meaning use more DB properly and ulting correctly)
Edit: Mercy has been my get out of gold card since forever but I play her much less once into plat. (multiple accounts one that I had in low silver due to placing and play while extremely intoxicated)
