Nano Cola and Bastet are good for the games health

These “challenges” are super great for Overwatch.

These are challenges that should happen every single month and feature a certain hero. Along with a skin and sprays, this is a great chance to put out official lore in comic form or short story, etc and keep the game feeling fresh and alive.

Furthermore, this just proves my point that there should be some sort of daily quest system in Overwatch. During these periods with Nano Cola and Bastet, Quick Play games are at their best. People actually have a reason for wanting to win.

When these challenges go live, the chances that you have 6 DPS on a team is much much less.

Im sorry but gamers need to be told want to do. When left up to their own devices, they run wild. This is in part why the LFG system, as great as that feature is, never gets used or gets used much less than it should be.

I would love to see more of these challenges happen on a monthly basis.

I try and keep up with the 9 wins in arcade. I try and win all 9 with a hero I’m not good at but want to improve so I at least understand their mechanics for QP and then ranked. Did this one Winston last time so not long until I’m a proper main tank player.

Thats such a great idea.

Daily quests could be hero specific as well, for Winston it could be something like:

  • Knock 50 players away from objective areas in Quick Play or Comp games

The reward could be coins and maybe a Winston spray or something?

I enjoy it specially since it is not tied to just one mode, people can choose what to do either QP or just fun in Arcade. I find it refreshing instead of being forced into one mode, imagine the rage if it was QP win only

This is also a great part of it. You can participate in the challenge regardless of what game mode you like to play.

They should do more challanges in that format.

9 wins for X gold or a special lootbox with specific items for a random hero, for example a “Reinhardt lootbox”

Except the Twitch part. It’s not good for the game.

I agree. Unfortunately, they’re too infrequent to really make much of a difference. We really should have constant access to a large set of challenges that work like this… For example, instead of 9 wins… Say, three games of 20k+ damage blocked as Reinhardt to get a spray, then 3 games in which you interrupt an enemy ult with Charge for the victory pose, then 3 games in which you Earthshatter 3 or more people for the skin, with similar challenges for every hero.

Or go full ham, and separate them into unique challenges. Block 20k+ damage in 50 games for a new Rein weapon skin. Earthshatter 4+ people 30 times for a new skin. Etc etc

It got me to play again, I haven’t touched this game in a while until I heard about the challenge… I’m regretting it now lol

Even if it’s just every three months in between hero releases it’d be great. It’d break up the monotony of the games losing. It’s great that people are actively trying to win too.

HotS has had these types of things since it’s launch and even in quick match people generally try to win. I’ve gotten many even matches.

This would be a great reward for the hero specific daily quests actually

For example, todays quest could be:

  • Block 100,000 damage in Quick Play, Arcade or Competitive games

Then you would get a choice between a coin drop or a special Rein lootbox filled with hero specific items

I know what you mean, but I think its a good way to highlight positive streamers in the Overwatch community. Maybe make the requirements only 2 hours and never more than that? Great way to help advertise the game too.

I agree. Quests for every hero that you can work on, on a daily basis would really be amazing. Like I mentioned above blocking 100,000 damage on Rein for example.

What bugs me is that there really is no limit to the possibilities here. There are so many great things that could be implemented to make the game better than it currently is and it just isn’t happening.

LOL. I hear you. Personally, I HAD to get the 76 spray. That was a must have.

100% agree with you. My only concern with a 3 month thing is that if you were waiting for the challenge to highligh your favorite hero, you might be waiting a very, very long time. Even at 1 hero a month, that is 29 months.

However, it would keep the game fresh for 29 months. And once they have completed every hero, they could start back at the beginning with new content for that hero. Honestly, there is just an endless amount of awesomeness you could do here.

I feel like the system they have in HotS is so great. I will log in JUST to complete my quests. Especially right now with the toy event on. I just got the Dahaka skin in a chest. Not the green one :frowning: but still super happy.

I mean, its something. It does make me want to play, but i wish there were more depth to these things. It would be nice to have very specific challenges that needed to be met, but that couldnt happen on a specific character. Maybe compete some type of challenge in each hero class? Like, X amount of healing done, Damage done, Damage blocked.

I would love a Daily Quest system similar to what you see in games like Hearthstone. They add a lot of variety to the game.

I don’t think they should be super complicated or gimmicky, but rather simple things that you can do while advancing your goals as a team.

Some suggestions:

Push a Payload X meters.
Get X kills while contesting an objective.
Deal X Damage.
Do X Healing.
Block X Damage.
Get X kills with an ultimate.
Win a Game as (Class/Hero)

Nothing that you have to go out of your way to do. But it’d also be good if they targeted players and gave them quests for things they don’t normally do. I’m fairly comfortable as a DPS and Healer player, but offering players like me tank quests would be a good way to be get people out of their comfort zone.

I like these too. Quality does go up however, lot’s of people say they want hero specific challenges. Which would be cool and interesting, however, it would still create a lot of problems.

For one, it would create lots of leavers since people wouldn’t be able to select that hero. It may prevent people from getting the content, and for something as small as this, seems kinda not fair. Also, quality would drop, people playing heroes they don’t play just for sprays and such.

I think it’s good you can win it with any hero, maybe for the very last win, there could be a hero specific challenge that isn’t too difficult to complete.

Agreed. Along with this I think they should consider increasing the amount weekly lootbox tiers to the arcade, or reducing the amount of days between each arcade reset.

unless its a monthly thing then I agree but as of right now its just another lazy attempt from blizz to pretend to be adding “content”

I wish they would at least inform us via email about these “micro events” like they did with Pink Mercy. I missed the nano cola challenge simply because I was preoccupied with other games.

I think they should make these challenges require comp games. Lord knows that mode could use an injection of fresh blood.

I have a problem with objective based quests though as they encourage possibly game sabotaging behavior. Unless those conditions are win oriented players will do things like dropping shields into the middle of enemies instead of proper placements or just damaging whomever is the biggest target instead of who needs to die , etc etc. There is a lot you can do to achieve particular goals without contributing.

Imagine if they could simply keep “arcade wins” as “any wins” after these events are over though.

No sense in forcing people to play Arcade for it. Never did and never will make sense especially when Jeff said how he disliked how they did golden guns forcing people to play comp yet they put out a way to earn bonus loot by forcing arcade.

Basically they learned some lessons but only for limited time events…?
