Mod Edit: Naming and shaming other players is against our Forum Code of Conduct as it falls under harassment. If you want to report someone in-game, please use the in-game reporting tools.
Since devs have been so slack jawed and ineffectual at dealing with throwers, and all the other issues blighting the game, a YouTube channel has started naming and shaming these utter bags of crap scumbags.
Of course they won’t get banned as nothing below owl matters…
Most boggling was four characters controlled by one person deranking four accounts at once… Bonkers…

Hopefully they take notice, at the very least because of his channels reputation.
The replay system does make it a lot easier to see what happen first hand tho.
I find this fascinating to know what patterns to spot if someone is acting up. I only know of a few like how to spot aimhacks but even that is hard for me, the more obvious is Widow shooting a random wall while scoped.

Watching this video literally lowered my intelligence… Like… What happened to Overwatch that it’s gotten to this place?! It wasn’t like this when I first started playing… ):

Years of lax enforcement of rules of conduct.
Unfortunately a sizeable minority of people are scum and if they spot weakness in enforcement of rules they’ll take full advantage, be it to sell smurf accounts or for the pleasure of hurting others.

It seems as though you hold pretty credible reputation amongst the Overwatch community.
Do you mind me asking your honest opinion about smurfing?
I feel it ruins the game experience because it prevents people from getting an opportunity to evenly match against people who are at the same level. You don’t learn to grow and outsmart “that” level because you’re literally just being punished over and over…
I met a smurf (have him as a friend on disc.) who has 16 DIFFERENT accounts!! 2 are in T500 (I saw it myself in-game) and when I met him in DM waiting for comp (I got to plat on Hanzo/Ashe/widow) literally nothing I could do to out play him.
How am I learning or supposed to advance with so many of these situations running rampant in the game?! Much less the meta/hero shake ups?? The inconsistency does breed higher skill but only over time given a “more stable” environment…
Apologies for the rant/vent…

2-2-2 role lock with separated ranks.
For some it’s fun to climb on your main and tank/troll on your non-main roles. I saw a plat healer who was bronze with tank.
this reminds me of why i stopped following btc - too much negativity is bad for the soul. he definitely needs to calm down.
“calm down…”

Whenever I see people who lose on purpose, I think of this video.

I would like to hear an explanation why the problem with the throwers has become worse rather than better.
Blizzard not even monitoring their report system is part of the problem. They just don’t care. Here’s a secret. Players don’t care about overwatch 2. We want your first game to be a nice place which it isn’t it’s terrible. Toxicity. Smurfs. Throwers.
I and a lot of others due to frustration you caused them won’t give you a cent for overwatch 2.

I was wondering about this yesterday. I know its agaisnt rules to post video of cheater or thrower.
But what if i just share codes without saying who it was here?

I don’t think you can extract the Battletag of a player from a replay.
Most names are not unique.
This dude is doing God’s work and I cannot believe there’s idiots out there who have nothing better to do with their time than waste it throwing in this game. Literal psychopaths.

Sorry, lot of the people on the forum think I’m an idiot…
I think that a lot of smurfing is perfectly nice players that want to play Overwatch, but get frustrated by their team mates throwing, be it via hard throwing, playing an off meta hero, refusing to group up and other crap.
So they want to have fun games that aren’t ruined by idiot team mates, so they play in lower ranks where they are less subject to their team mates.
OW is deeply flawed from the off. It’s a team based game that relies on utter strangers.
Even a five stack isn’t safe. We had an idiot random Moira that ended up with bronze healing at the end of the match.
OW2 needs clans or inbuilt method to establish long term teams.
Here’s a Youtuber suffering from throwers.

i hardthrew at least three games today.
after multiple attempts to play the matches seriously, I came across the realization, that my teams were constantly feeding and softthrowing to oblivion. I literally played with five-stacks that couldn‘t get a single kill, while I ended up with gold medals for 1-2 kills as tank. not that i played like a god (i didn‘t) but carrying 5 people in gold is impossible as a gold/plat player.
no sir, i‘m sorry. if you don‘t tryhard in comp, I‘m doing it neither anymore. Saving my energy and sanity for the good ones.
tab-out and youtube

i‘m not proud of it but i have to draw the line somewhere.

Yep, I feel you. Teams not grouping up is my biggest bugbear.
I try to play Rein, but as my team run past me and my dps Moira doesn’t heal me and just runs in 1v6 vs the enemy team, I just switch to Hog. I’m pretty bad with him, but if my team are throwing the game, I’ll practice a hero i need to get good on to play tank effectively at low elo.
it’s actually paid off as I’m managing around 190 damage with hook combo. If I can bump it a bit more to 200 then I’ll do a lot better with him.

typically you can see the team-potential after the first two pushes. their outcome defines the match in 80% of the time.
the only chances to win a game after 3-4 failed pushes:
- enemy gets cocky and makes critical errors (rare)
- someone switches from „off“ to „main character“ (or even hardcounter) and finally starts getting things done (very rare)
- you go on a mad and unexplainable killing spree by yourself (berzerk brute force)

I play on console where smurf accounts are free to make. Needless to say Competitive is a joke of a mode on console where it’s reduced to whichever team has the better/not throwing smurf wins.
Smurfing gives the smurf player an unfair advantage because they’re playing in a skill tier typically far below their own, and according to Blizzard anything that gives an unfair advantage is cheating.

You’re just as bad as the other feeders and throwers then.
How about you don’t be part of the problem instead.

Or your team just finally gets ults and stabilizes. Sometimes it seems like the enemy is just rolling you because they’re better but it’s really just your team tilted after the first enemy push and are now trickling in denial lol
