Name something OW2 does better than OW1

Genuine question, I don’t know if I can,

(they took OW1 down for this so no definitely not free to the original players at least… lol)

(metas don’t count, neither does content, stuff that the developers put in the game, think prime ow1, 2017)

Inb4 “Double shield is gone” and “We finally have content”

Pissing players off.

Overwatch 2 is definitely better at that.

More skins and heroes (thx mommy kiriko) so rule 34 artist can base their art on

Still really enjoying the scoreboard. I assume a lot of players use it to berate others, but I find it very useful for personal performance and deciding who to support/focus.

There were less skins in this Winter Wonderland than the last one.

True but, still more heroes for the r34 machine, this alone gives us years of off game content
Witch kiriko was released just a week later in other sites after it got announced in game, now thats fast

Orisa.

Tanks are a lot more fun for a wider range of people.

Objectively, optimization has been improved quite a bit.

Subjectively, I prefer 5v5 combat’s flow and feel. OW’s 6v6 was good and fun, but 5v5 is even better, as far as I’m concerned. I also really like Push as a game mode over 2CP.

Well I’ve been looking for a lot of other multiplayer games to play instead of Overwatch, so there is that.

daily and weekly quests
Time of day changes on maps

That’s literally it :man_shrugging:

Ummmm… Milk the players for money?

#WhalesAhoy #NerfShopPrices

Core game play is good
Ping system is insanely useful but also doesn’t feel unfair
Scoreboard
Orisa rework
New Mercy movement feels good
New players (good long term, feels bad short term)

I guess technically by your question none of these would be valid since you said no to include content or “stuff that the developers put in the game” but you didn’t really leave much wiggle room lol

Nothing heh heh heh h

For me:

  • 5v5
  • Ping
  • Removal of 2cp (albeit I wouldn’t mind never seeing Colosseo again)
  • No double shield
  • 1 Tank
  • Reduced CC
  • I don’t have to wait for POTG to end to see my stats
  • Junker Queen, but I wish we could play her more

Nothing…

Why didn’t they call it OW 1.5?

OW2 advantages over OW1:

  1. 5v5
  2. no more double shield
  3. dive is weaker
  4. can’t be jumped on/overrun by two tanks anymore
  5. less chaotic teamfights
  6. more control over teamfights
  7. more individual impact
  8. more impact by DPS & supports
  9. more opportunities to get kills
  10. higher carry potential
  11. teamfights are more fun and enjoyable
  12. less CC
  13. bad map design & flawed gamemode 2CP gone
  14. way less boring and repetitive chokepoint fighting
  15. the competitive system rework
(discourages smurfing; losses don’t feel as bad & unfun anymore and no more incentive for many players to stop playing comp for a season to not drop below an arbitrary SR number, e.g. 3000)
  16. Push is a very fun and dynamic gamemode added
  17. more beautiful & detailed maps with multiple routes to attack from
  18. time of day variations on maps
  19. weather variations on maps
  20. good hero reworks and changes
(Mercy super jump, Zarya dynamic bubbles, Winton medium range secondary fire added, Roadhog ult buffs, Orisa rework, Bastion rework, Zenyatta kick, Doomfist being moved to tank and losing his unbalanced and frustrating one-punch-instakill, Sombra hack duration reduced)
  21. more cool heroes
  22. making the game F2P
  23. double the amount of monthly active players
  24. shorter queue times
  25. more content being added regularly
  26. weapon charms
  27. nice sound changes
  28. graphical improvements and upgrades
  29. a detailed and very useful scoreboard was added (way better than the medal system)
  30. after-match game reports with very useful and in-depth information
  31. ping system added, which is incredibly helpful and time-saving
  32. cool mythic skins

HMU if I missed something.:grinning::+1:t4:

The fact that ults are not the primary factor in winning encounters.
