Hey everyone ![]()

Had a few things on my mind and thought I’d share them here. Also disclaimer, I don’t mean Blizz dev
It’s very long so TLDR
1, names feel old in current times and should be more like social media, inside game and outside. This includes things like emojis. Also remove paid name change and make it free.
2, Should I become the “ultimate meme” and change my name to Giga Chadscendance
combining Giga Chad and Transendance memes (I’ve already claimed the name in case anyone thinks of stealing it)?
No back to our originally scheduled programming
(fyi an old line used on TV used after breaking news)
Firstly, why can’t Blizzard update the display name system in it’s games. As a former dev myself, it wouldn’t take much work to add things like emojis to display names, in game and in chat.
I also don’t feel it’s fair on everyone as a whole that the “street names” ability in game where it changes your name is very fair, when people have to pay money to change their names on their accounts. Why can’t account naming and displaying your name in chat and in game, be more like what we can do to names on social media? Why can’t we increase the length as well? I feel this would give another level of personalisation in the game compared to the short and often forced “all capital letterered” names
Even a change like this (being a former head dev) would likely pull back good market share from Rivals for a short period. It would need to be followed up with other captivating ideas or it would still just fail though.
So my question to you guys, what would you all think of a change like that IF it was implemented cleanly
Secondly, I am actually considering a name change myself. This is not just my bnet name, this would be my whole online personality that I’ve had since the dawn of the internet ![]()

FR though, my very first online name was for online games (was legit the only reason I had chosen to use the internet after its release). It actually used to annoy the hell out of me, look up what the sound of a “Dial up Modem” used to make and tell me if you would enjoy that screaming at you all the time. It damn well sucked big giant balls, trust me, listen to the sound. It’s like nails on a chalkboard, anyone from that era would have PTSD from it, legit ![]()
But to give you an idea how the name originated and some backstory. The first game I used it for was a PS2 game called SOCCOM US Navy Seals. It could actually be considered one of the first games of its style (Counterstrike another). This being a team based shooter with parcel detonation just like CS2. Though this game also had hostage extraction, 1 team had to get atleast 1 Ai hostage to an extraction zone, the “terrorists” have to to prevent all hostages being extraction by any means necessary (could kill hostages). The game was actually one of the most fun I’ve played in all of gaming to this day. How did I find this game when counterstrike was already around? Internet was very new, my mum had it but my dad didn’t. At the time I was living with my Dad so was playing off line games only. That meant needing to always buy new games (or rent them back in the day), so you were always trying new titles quite often costing more than today when the dollar was worth A LOT MORE
so they were not cheap and considered “luxuries” of the time and considered “wealthy” having all the new titles. Being younger at the time and still living with my dad, I went out bought the game with the money I had learnt myself, played the off-line version and loved it, bought the “special PS2 internet connection adapter” (it cost a fortune too), took it all around to my friends place who had internet and tried the online version out there, guess what? Most addictive online game I’ve ever played, so much so my mate (I’m Australian, mate = close friend) ran out, bought the adaptor and barely ever left his house again
this while I was in semi professional sports teams at the time and also working and studying. I loved the game so much, I forced my dad into getting us internet (it cost a fortune for internet in Australia then, you had to pay by the 1MB), convinced him its the new way and good for his business he ran from home (queue ongoing arguments about internet bills being 100s of dollars
I swear my dad wanted to kill me back then
). But Socom was the first game I used JumpinBeans in, this also shows you how dated Blizzard names are. It was even constrained to that configuration due to how bytes worked back at the dawn of online gaming.
The name was also a reference to my baby name. As a small child my parents and my relos (Aussie for relatives) all called me a “Mexican Jumping Bean”. And before someone says it’s racist
it’s an actual thing look it up, it’s quite fascinating. I also love Mexican culture so it’s not appropriation but instead appreciation. I was given the name because I NEVER SAT STILL. I’ve always been non stop since the day I was born, my son is the same and I expect my next will be too (my wife and I joke we are in for trouble). So the name has sentimental reasons for chosing it, although babylike and has always intended to be JumpingBeans or JumpingBeans101 (yeah it was taken for battlefield
so I added the 101 cos I like to teach and I like to school). This should hopefully answer someone elses question about my name
see, I’m not a coward
The next 2 games I used it in were Battlefield 2, and the original release of WoW. That WoW account is actually this very account. (sorta did hurt being banned on the OW forums because of that)
So with Backstory in mind, would you hold onto the sentimentality of the name?
Or would you consider going with the other option of a new persona change to reflect my change in life too (being a father)?
The persona I have in mind is inspired by Elon Musk “Kekius Maximus”. That green streamer frog but looking like a Roman emperor. What I was going to do was combine 2 memes to make the “Ultimate Meme”, which is me /j ![]()
Except the “which is me”, which was joking, the rest is correct and I was considering merging the “Giga Chad” meme and the “Transcedance” meme. To make…
Drum rolls please ![]()
GIGA CHADSCENDANCE
Hahaha ok, I know it sounds stupid but you gotta see the pic that goes with it. I’d share it if I could figure out this 1990s forum
if anyone knows how to do it from Android, please share how
But picture the biggest real life looking giga Chad, top less and ripped with a transcendent brain around his shaved head
the picture looked dope AF
Would love to hear everyone’s opinions on the questions I’ve asked ![]()
Edit*
But ultimately, the name restrictions were originally introduced in the 1990s (possible late 80s, I’m not checking exact year
). The restrictions were to keep download and upload requirements to a minimum. This was to keep gaming cheaper and more appealing to people because of the extreme prices of games and internet. It sort of feels time to move out of the 1990s
Also added TLDR at start
