Archlight rumble is total garbage and a spit in the face to the actual rts genre. Upgrading units with real money to gain an edge should never be the basis for an rts. Hell, the game is so lazy that the various factions don’t get unique workers; instead all factions get kobalds as workers. Why? The devs said in their own forums (yes the devs actually talk to people in the archlight forums) that it is important to see the kobalds, which leaves me scratching my head… In warcraft 3 Orcs have peons, undead have acolytes/ghouls, humans have peasants, and night elves have wisps. At no point was I ever lost or confused when I seen a different faction’s worker. You all think Overwatch is bad? Warcraft Archlight Rumble is peak laziness to the point where the devs don’t even bother to add serious unit verity or even go to the effort of at least reskinning lore friendly workers.
Haven’t they only released like 2 games in the past 3 years one of which was a mobile game and one isn’t even a game but a shop update? Hardly a good sample size. If you really want to show your point you could say the last decade of which there would be OW1 and that’s about it. Maybe HOTS.
WoW Shadowlands was good. Diablo 2 Resurrected is good. Sorry your bias bubble has been shattered so easily, but I’m sure you’ll stick your head in the sand and ignore reality.
The expansion which caused them a massive player loss and had the longest patch waits as well as a badly written story? Because of that expansion Blizzard were forced to go back their roots, bring back the classic talent system etc. They even introduced developer sit down videos etc. They realized how badly they goofed with Shadowlands and started copying how the Final Fantasy devs handle things.
Literally every wow xpac gets the same complaints. It’s a cycle. Xpac starts good, then players slowly lose interest between the next xpac, and they go online and cry fake tears. Relative to WoW expansions, it started off good.
Legion got a lot of likes, but after that point people got fed up of Blizzard re-interating its borrowed power system into even worse formats (Azerite anyone? No? Understandable.)
Shadowlands really went too far though, it was like 10 months before any real fixes were done. They a lot a lot more people leaving during that long content drought than in other expansions it seemed. Only to give us the most pathetic ending that the Jailer was a tin can robot who was scared about the next big bad.
What I won’t forget shadowlands for is… they totally trashed the WoW afterlife. It was all mysterious and had neat possibilities. Shadowlands however wrote it as: Beings who are manufactured robots but don’t realize that they’re robots control the afterlife for all organic life and they all have their own ugly little club houses.
Shadowlands was it for me. They said they want to change things now though, implemented dev sit down videos, finally talked about a new base WoW UI after waiting all this time. etc etc etc. Even bringing back the classic wow talent system into retail wow etc.
Shadowlands was the last straw and they’re being forced to change to keep WoW going.
