I think I know why mythic skins aren’t in the shop. It’s their best skins and they don’t want players looking forward to mythic skins instead of their newly released skins. For example, Divine money and Genos in comparison to the mythic genji skin is less unique. They want sales, so they don’t want players to wait for the mythic skin to be re-released. Instead they want players to purchase newly released skins. I think this is also why they hide skins like street runner genji by default. They want people to purchase multiple skins leading up to the re-release of other content.
Edit: this is purely speculation, I could be wrong
Honestly I just want older battle passes to be available always so I can grind something else while other then the title of “Peasant” .
Or maybe bundle older shop skins into another secondary pass.
I will happily pay 20~30$ a season to get everything. If it means I just have to grind for it.

They want mythic skins to be a reward to show your dedication to the game during that time.
They probably wont make them available in the shop, and if they do it wont be for a long while.

Eventually it would just be free money, as the work is already done. In the same way OWL skins still pop up.
I’m surprised their not banking on pink mercy tho, that might be tied up rights wise with it’s associated charity.

Unfortunately the short sighted gaming community deemed permanent battle passes to be inferior products to “free money”.

Even then, those skins will be ridiculous. I assume they’d bundle it with the spray, player icon, and a voiceline, and probably charge around 4000 coins for it.
Or, even worse, they could sell the mythic in individual pieces.

I don’t think the latter was programmed in the game at least in terms of cutting it up into multiple heads colors weapons and the likes.
But honestly have a hard time seeing them selling as individual skins.
As that would be a lot of bad press, like a looooot of bad press.
for something that was originally 10$ and 15 ish hours of grind.

Considering some of the things blizzard has done the past few years, I’m not even sure they care about bad press at this point.

in fact, this is what Blizzard’s marketing department is working on: pressure based on the time limit. It is not announcing any return (or when they will return, since the skins say “sometimes in the shop” and it is convenient for them to create a pressure around the skins where players are led to think “I can’t miss this offer, who knows when it will return in the future”. But so far there is nothing illegal, actually. It is a marketing management decision.
Mythic skins are obviously the maximum BP reward, and yes, we don’t know if, when or how they will return in the future. the only testimony is an interview that said “I was thinking about their return in the future” (blizzard’s coming soon are increasingly uncertain).
For me, however, there are other “scams” to be warned against and above all for which we must insist on a change:
- we need a PREVIEW SYSTEM: we need to be able to view the skins before purchasing, evaluating them in highlights, poses, emotes and in the trianing room. Very often this determines the desire to buy them or not, without regretting the purchase, and considering the high cost it is absolutely legitimate for consumers. I believe that in some countries it is even illegal what they did on the “NON LEGENDARY SKIN” Moira Mime which had absolutely nothing special but according to the community standards a legendary skin must deserve this title with special effects;
-
INFORMATION SHEETS on the presence of special effects: Heroes of the storm for example has icons in its shop that ALWAYS specify if there are any special effects or particular voicelines that allow you to have extra information on your purchase and judge whether the rarity (and the price) are fair. it’s quite wrong not to have these kinds of lists;
-
A BUTTON TO LINK IN SINGLE OBJECT FROM THE BUNDLES: the shop does not currently have buttons that allow you to go and select the single object in the gallery starting from viewing the bundle. There is no point in writing “the item is sold separately” if there is no direct link to the possibility of making the purchase. It may be silly for us who have known the game for months or years, but for those who connect for the first time, often ignore that the gallery path and the one for the shop are completely different and available;
-
REIMBURSEMENT IN COINS ON SOME CONTENT PURCHASE: for me it doesn’t make sense for a person to buy an old skin in OW2 and then have the risk of finding it as a free prize on the twitch drop or on the challenges. a perfect example is the heart souvenir, essentially earned for Valentine’s Day although there have been people who have spent 700 credits or coins to get it. It’s not fair that there hasn’t been a refund since getting the same items back. we are no longer in OW1 where we can ignore without complaint, today we make precise choices about what we buy and put real and lots of money into it: it is not fair that in the end those expenses automatically become stupid because within 1 month /2 of the debut of the game developers have changed their minds about how to implement them to their community. it’s not professional and it’s unfair, it also discourages trust in buying standard content that can change their mind at any time and offer it for free with a challenge, leaving us less and less buying power on other content. and in just 4 months they have already changed the whole system of availability of the old OW1 content;
-
MORE INFO ON THE CURRENT AVAIABILITY OF CONTENTS: I found it shameful that on the bundle dedicated to Hanzo Cupid there was no writing anywhere in the bundle that the highlight was available for FREE by playing Loverwatch, thus generating a discount on the bundle. it is the precise duty of the developers to be VERY precise about the alternative availability of the products inside the bundles they sell at that moment, just like I said before for the keys that should connect us directly to the purchase of the single content IF we want it at that moment;
for now, these types of needs come to mind, which in my opinion are the first steps for a more honest overwatch towards its community

Click on my profile, click on view and under my profile and my name you’ll see “normal.” Click on it. Then click on ignore.
Trust me dude, I could care less about your thoughts on my post.
Well its all your post about and its barly beenn 3 months like a full yeae i would understand but 3 months we arent even out of season 3 yet like for real what next going to ask for Christmas items in may at least wait a year
The detail within your comment is incredible. And I do agree with all the points, hopefully someone sees this.
It would be suicidal to release them in shop. A legendary costs $19. A mythic is basically three legendaries in one. We’re talking a $40-$60 skin.

Lol and people will buy them for 100$ probably based on how much this guy posts about it their has to be a market on top 100$ is how much the skins cost to buy out right so?
I’d pay $40-$50 for it, preferably in overwatch coins
