Mythic prisms cost too much

Well, I goofed up and didn’t buy the $10 battlepass in season six. I had all of the tiers. Not only did I miss out on all of the goodies, but I regret not getting the Ana skin. My mistake. Awesome, I now have an opportunity to buy it…for $75??? Good luck Blizzard. IMHO $20 would be reasonable. I’ll just go buy two ENTIRE GAMES like Palworld and Helldivers 2 on Steam for that much money.

Ok, then do that.

If you dont find the price worth the cost, then dont buy it.

ITs that simple.

They are cosmetic items, they dont effect gameplay. Its a vanity item.

If it effected gameplay, or something (like when heroes where in BP), then I can understand these arguments.

But for skins?

Just dont buy them if you think they are to much.

There is always the choice of using the prisms you get from the battlepass for the mythic skin you want the most and actually make a choice. Then next season you do the same. There is no need to have all of them. I do wish they would do it retroactively so we would get to choose to buy the old ones or not.

Yes AkeD, if there’s a skin I’m not fond of, I guess I’ll get the Ana skin then. I like the Mercy skin, so this season’s prisms are already used.

Why would they make Mythics $20 when they already priced single legendaries at that price😂. Remember this is Blizzard.

When I explained that in a very long post to a poster on this forum (that I happen to have interesting exchanges with, usually), I was told that I didn’t understand anything or something like that… as if Mythic prism cost didn’t exist :man_shrugging: :

Just buy this season’s battle pass and earn the 80 prisms from that and use those to buy your Ana mystic skin. Problem solved.

I still love how they removed mythic skins from the battlepass and put them behind yet another currency and tried to convince us this was a positive change.

Because this was one of the positive changes.

You still get the mytic from the battle pass, just added a extra step of buying it in a shop.

But now if you dont like the mytic, you can get a different one.

Like how was this a negitive change?

because the skin was $10 and now its 750% that cost.

and no i cannot grind for it, because then I cannot get the mercy skin

They did it because some players won’t buy the battle pass if they don’t like a Mystic Skin or maybe they don’t play that particular character. This new way allows to still buy the battle pass to earn the prism tokens and then when you see a Mystic skin you want, you have the currency to buy it. Those prism tokens will accumulate after each season of you buying the battle pass.

The prices are perfect the way they are, Blizzard is maximizing the profit with minimal effort and additional FOMO (if I don’t buy the battle pass I will have to pay 75 later instead of 10 now). I already know a few people who shelled out 150 bucks for 2 skins they missed. Goal achieved for Blizzard, the whales are onto it.

Of course the prices would be insane, it’s a company that wants to have your very last penny for some skins. Blizzard managers are market geniuses and know how to maximize the profit considering how much money they make with cosmetic items.

Adding another currency to the game can only lead to worse long-term changes.

Sooner or later the currency will be taken out of battle passes entirely.

I think it is negative in the sense that most people believed (or would have liked) to still have current Mythic in the BP while getting a few mythic prisms in the BP Premium tracks so they could collect them and buy an old Mythic skin at the end of the year or beginning of 2025 (as an additinal award for grinding the BP).

I agree that not being forced to get a Mythic skin, while still getting the other rewards from the BP is interesting but you will still be forced to buy the premium BP the following season if said BP not only has a Mythic skin that is to your liking, but also has other skins from the BP tracks that you would want to get…

At the end of the day, it’s only a minor change to most people. If I’m a player that only cares about Mythic skins, there’s no point for me to buy the current Season BP just to spend the 80 Mythic coins (for 10 dollars) during another season.

I hope you understand what I’m trying to tell ('cause when I explained that to Trilly, I felt like what I was saying was ludicrous to them, haha)

You don’t know what’s in the next pass. Might be something you despise.

so its a bad change on the chance something happens later?

There’s no good reason for buying mythic prisms, unless you have more money than sense. Nobody plays every character enough to NEED the mythic skin for all of them. And there will be future mythics that are more underwhelming (was certainly true for some of the past ones) so you can just skip them and buy an older mythic.

And as far as the people with more money than sense, if they want to cross subsidise me that’s up to them.

I understand, but i still wouldnt say its a “negitive” change, at worse a neutral change, but not negitive

It will most certainly be used to make Blizzard more money and put more skins behind paywalls. Once the currency is established who knows what else will be put behind it. I dont see it ending well.

Before: you buy BP for $10 and you get that seasons skin at level 80.

Now: you buy BP for $10, you collect 80 prisms on your way to 80 and choose if you wanna spend on an older mythic or the current mythic.
Plus, you get the added option of spending a ton of money to buy more than what you got before if you feel that’s worth it.
And another bonus, if you got the BP before but didn’t like the mythic, then you basically got no mythic. Now, you can just save the 80 prisms for another season instead.

For me, I bought up to tier 3 on the Mercy skin so I got 10 prisms saved for another season.

How anyone can see this as a negative change is beyond me. One mythic skin per season still has the exact same cost and time requirement to it!
