Why does everyone say, “we need to make more changes to the support role to attract more players, since no one wants to play support.” Yet my support que has been my longest que since season two started. If I que flex, I get tank and dps every time.
I’ll let Greyfalcon answer that one, he’s got the charts.
Region platform rank time you play and screenshot, support has been the fastest q time always a min or under since launch
I really hope he gets hired by Blizzard like Wyoming, we can already see the communication improvements with him going in, having gf in there as a feedback loop of balance and community perception of heroes would be cool
That’s a positive and a negative.
On one hand, he’s got a lot of opinions I like.
On the other hand, if he starts working with them then he has to follow the same work flow and regulations they do. If he became an employee, that is one less person who goes through EVERY single platform to be a representative of the community.
The idea that supports are bad in OW2 is a lingering sentiment from S1 that most people have moved on from. Mercy’s changes could have been handled better, but supports as a whole are quite strong.
Flex que is basically just Support for most people. You’ll get the odd Tank game once in a blue moon.
Forget about DPS lol.
Nope they are not bad at all even in s1 it’s unfun though, they reworked most tanks and dps for ow2 but supports weren’t changed much to be fun.
As a zen main i can’t complain as the kick was nice.
But nerfing mobility of mercy the most fun that hero can have isn’t the right call.
The issue with queue times is that role queue should have never been implemented in the first place. All they had to do to not add role queue was nerf Brig. Instead they waited until it was too late.
Now they have completely sacrificed match quality at the expense of manageable queue times. The whole ‘5 dps and 1 healer’ was the real myth in open queue. It almost never happened despite what the support one tricks will tell you.
Also a big difference back then was most heroes could 1v1 even if they were of different roles.
True. Now if you are a DPS versus any tank you will lose unless the tank is blindfolded playing with 1 hand.
The support problems have been reduced with a few small buffs to supports, a few nerfs to flankers, and the removal of the dps speed passives. The pressure on supports is still there, but it’s nowhere near as catastrophic as it was during the beta and season one.
There’s still some in game improvements that supports still need, particularly in rewards and positive feedback. Blizzard was supposedly working on this, but they haven’t spoken of it since November. Wouldn’t say no to a small buffs or QoL improvements too.
Supports are in a better place than season one. Still get them 90% of the time when queued for all roles, but seeing dps more often and the occasional tank.
If you like OQ, play OQ, what’s the issue? RQ saved the game for me when they added it. I was completely fed up with team comp being a total roll of the dice. I absolutely did have frequent games with either no tank or no support, forcing me to do it more often than not.
It’s no longer OPEN queue. It’s EXPIREMENTAL queue. That’s the issue.
For me support queue is the longest in early morning in asia. Then for the rest of the day it becomes the fastest queue
So if you played flex after early morning most of your games would be support
North American Region. I play at all times of the day, morning or late at night. My ranks are as follows;
Tank: masters 5
Dps: masters 3
Support: masters 2
Que times
Tank: 2 min
Dps: 1 minute
Support: 3 min
I queue flex every single night…support is the role filled at least 96% of the time. The only time I get other roles is when I get backfill.
My queue times when I pick DPS are much longer…I would love to know what alternate reality server your experience is on.
Yo if you’re gonna bring up Q times please post your current Q times in the thread I made. Let’s share this stuff. No reason not to.
This is another example of Q times being brought up and discussed when we have no idea what they’re like for the majority. It’s not a solution but you guys sharing your times can at least help us have some idea of what we’re talking about when Q times are brought up.
