It tests your knowledge of all heroes, forces you to get better at them and stops meta cancer from destroying games. The only thing that ruins the game mode is 2/2/2 and duplicate heroes.
I propose 2/2/2 mystery heroes - you always roll what is missing from the comp and your knowledge of the entire roster is tested.
No more getting stomped because of no healer, or double heroes - just random balance - a contradiction - but really no.
I’d love to see this game mode. Please blizz. Put it up for a few weeks - see if people prefer it to regular mystery heroes…
If I had to choose between playing mystery heroes and being beaten with a piece of rebar, I’d request to be beaten with two pieces of rebar just to be safe.
It’s actually the least stressful mode IMO. Just let the chips fall where they may with your hero selection. Sometime you end up as Pharah vs a team with no hitscan or decent ranged attacks, sometimes you get Doomfist into a 2 bastion 2 orisa comp.
In my experience, playing MH all the time is detrimental to your skills because it waters you down. If you want to get into higher levels of play, you need to be able to be really good at a few key heroes. It doesn’t really pay off to be ‘decent’ at every hero in the role queue era.
MH has its place and it’s a fun distraction with a lot of potential funny chaos, but I wouldn’t recommend looking at that mode as a way to improve overall as a player.
At best, it forces you to try heroes you normally avoid with the chance that you ‘discover’ how much you enjoy a hero you ignored in the past.
I’m not saying this as a high-skilled player. Based merely on observations
I used to play MH all day but hero stacking was too much. Havent touched it in ages. I do like the fact that teams change no matter what at the end of every round, that gives teams a small break from OP comps.
Every game needs some kind of balance for people to have fun. Chaos is not fun, ever. Not in real life and not in a game. If you enjoy it that’s on you, but many don’t and my opinion is that hero stacking is and never was fun.
Depends on how you design such a system. For instance, if a Support dies he could only respawn as a Tank or a DPS, never as a Support. After that a DPS dies and he spawns as a Support, because your team lacks one and he didn’t play Support before. That way it would avoid players being locked into one specific role, but rather try to softly keep 2-2-2 intact. Additionally, if more than one player is currently dead, you can simply swap their roles.
