Howdy everyone !
I’m Rocky.
I’m new to the Overwatch Forums specifically and I’d like to share my opinion about the Competitive Drives and I generally just want to hear others’ opinions whether they agree or disagree.
Before I say anything, I just want to mention this is MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE , so If you don’t agree that’s okay !
Let’s jump right in !
My opinion of Competitive Drives is… They aren’t really enjoyable nor worth the time to do because of the players and that makes it difficult to enjoy. Now to elaborate, I more mean the players who never touch Competitive Mode and how a swarm of players who don’t engage with that side of Overwatch all of a sudden frenzie towards Comp and it creates such an imbalance in consistency with each match that it makes more than likely an insufferable experience to even dive into to begin with.
I don’t think this is a good pattern for these Competitive Events, especially when most players’ only incentive is the rewards, which is okay, but it leaves that brief period of the Competitive scene to be unfriendly or just nasty to engage with. In no way my argument is just saying “people are mean” even if toxicity is prevalent within Overwatch, I mean that it just makes you feel sickish or that it would’ve been more enjoyable to not play to begin with, at least until the event is over.
I don’t think that’s fair or that it should even be a thing… Not the drives themselves, but I don’t think players should have to experience that type of experience just because of an event, I don’t think an event should drastically affect a gamemode to the point where it makes the gamemode predominantly unenjoyable.
The easy answer to all of this would be, to not play the drives. If I believe it’s such an unenjoyable experience I should just wait, right ? I’m by no means the best player, but I think it’s very naive to say that this experience is only something I’ve gone through during these events.
I’m just curious to hear others share their opinion about the Competitive Drives, let me know !
I have more I could write for this topic, but I don’t want to jump all the way into the Rabbit Hole, just yet.
As Always,
Safe Journeys
