I honestly never join voice chat, unless I’m playing with friends.

Seriously though, that dude went about it all the wrong ways. You simply don’t say “oh my God genji switch please.” I honestly don’t know what that guy expected. I’m a silver and even I know that you have to say “Hey I’m sorry but Genji isn’t really working here, could you please switch? Maybe something like Phara would work.”
In short, I completely understand why you left voice chat and also I’m low-key upset. It’s guys like that who give the rest of us voicers a bad name
I just don’t really ask people to switch, they will if they can or want to. I actually found the quality of my games got a lot better when people didn’t single out others and asked if anyone could take care of x instead.
Of course, it’s always someone else am I right?
On a more serious note… Even if this was mild, I honestly hate this kind of thing because it keeps people like yourself out of voicechat.
I’ve found it so much more helpful (If something is going bad and we’re being countered by “x”) to ask "Hey is anyone here good with “y”? Usually I get people going “Nah but I’m good with “z” you think that’ll work?” and we build a teamcomp around that. It’s led me to playing Lucio for the first time in a competitive game and actually winning with him, so I can totally say I have a 100% winrate with Lucio B) EvenifIplayedhimforonegame

Well first off I’m talking about in my Competitive games. In quickplay games I usually do the same as you.
Also, I do try to avoid singling them out. Normally I say something more like “something’s not working here, what do we need to change?” which implies that the problem isn’t necessarily one person, so that when I say “that Phara keeps picking us off, we could use a 76 or something” the struggling Junkrat still doesn’t feel singled out, allowing me to bring home the bacon with “Junkrat, do you mind switching for us.”
In my eyes, a strategy like that strikes a good balance between what you suggest and identifying the specific changes needed. (Most of the time it isn’t necessary, as it is usually a total team failure rather than an issue with specific counters)
Seriously. I don’t understand why people think it is better to single someone out when every single life experience shows people don’t react kindly to it.
Everyone has been about to do the dishes and then asked to do them just before you get up. Everyone knows what that’s like and no one likes it.
That is definitely a better way to handle it 100% if we were to make specific hero pick suggestions.
Thanks! My mentality is It’s important to keep all your teammates happy (not singled out). No one does their best when they believe they’re the reason the team is struggling.
Specific switch suggestions should be avoided, but occasionally they are necessary, once you’ve given the individual plenty of time to figure it out themselves.
I have a 100% winrate on Widow for the exact same reason. Who’s Pine? Some pleb Widow with 60% winrate? pfffffff

I do. I still check enemies to see their mains on occasion, don’t want them to counter me off the bat too lol
I’ll blame them if I am making callouts, and trying to combo ults with them, and THEN they get salty in text chat.

I don’t know, maybe putting walls, where it raised their shield tank above their bunker, AND blocking the bastion off, so you might shoot them maybe?
When that failed because you were not in comms so couldn’t co-ord we did it to the bastion, because maybe you would get the hint?
When our D’va was calling for a bomb / EMP combo, and you were not in comms Sombra you may have lead to her not being able to wipe them.
You THEN get into text chat and trash talk the team, for not playing as serious as you would like?
That’s hilarious. That’s pretty much my experience with voice too. And it’s really dumb because now you are tilted, and he’s tilted, all because he needed “comms,” which is just an excuse to harass you. Can’t stand people like your Roadhog.
I tilted hard last night they were running pharah and she was decimating us …reaper junkrat sym mei …guys can anyone play hitscan ? their pharah is killing us …silence … no swaps (6 people in VC FYI) …ok prime chill someone will switch lets see how it goes …guys they are moving this payload too easy we need to deal with pharah could anyone switch…silence , by the time she earned her 4th barrrage i switched to Dva to deal with her … up pops Junkrat … Rein can you change DVa we need a shield off pops junkrat … i got a tad toxic and told him to eat a concussion mine … we got whopped … i apologised to the team … but it made me realise i can get quite animated when tryiing to shot call … so if anyone i played with last night reads this … my bad
Man that sucks. But imagine being the guy who asked someone to join voice chat just so they could flame them. SAD!
prior to the match beginning, I’ll look at our dps, and if both are projectile I’ll simply type in chat “have our dps consider how they’ll combat the enemy phara if they have one?” I always try to come prepared for the situation so I’ll always try and choose a support hitscan if I can (or in worst case scenarios I’ll swap to McCree or Ashe if absolutely necessary) this means that I can’t heal if I’m tasked with keeping a phara in check, but no worse than trying to outheal the insane dmg flying sky lady can do
