He’s a very solid hero just his counters are very Meta right now. If his counters weren’t so viable he could have a shot in being meta

I feel I only got the hook breaking for no reason bug recently. He still does heavy amounts of damage just his counters are very very meta
I mean, unless I am half damage I openly laugh at hogs hooking me unless it is off a cliff. Even then there is a 50% chance it will break for no reason

Here’s what I think he needs.
His home is RNG, and his right click is mostly spam with little threat.

Make his primary even crappier with no fix? Yeah, ok.
Fixing his hook to be what it should be is not buff enough to make his guns even crappier
His spread is too RNG and his hook is a joke. I hooked a Symmetra at the last checkpoint area in Kings Row pretty much where the payload has to get to and the hook broke, wtaf? Meanwhile his right click will either completely miss, tickle or one shot.
His problem is inconsistency and unless you tell a support to pocket you his ult is practically a suicide button.

As someone who has more than 251 hours on hog, you rarely used his primary outside of the hook combo.
His ult is heavy risk, huge reward. His ult does the highest dps in the game

Why not? The old secondary fire was fantastic when you could aim it.
Roadhog has teetered on “viable” in terms of pick rates, but he hasn’t been meta since Season 3.
How about fix both guns? There was nothing wrong with base hog until lowbies whined about him.
They just needed to fix hook

I hate the slow fire rate of old hog. All I want is the hook bugs to be fixed and to rewrite how the hook works
I loved it. It gave you time to deliberately aim each shot.
It seems recent. It makes him borderline unplayable. My sister has him as one of her top 5 characters and she rarely complains, but jeez, she just had a game where it broke half a dozen times. I swapped to him in no limits to get some juicy loot-box win with some Roadhog spam cheese and I only played him until I got my ultimate and had the bug proc twice. Like, jeez. This is by far the most prevalent bug I have ever experienced in Overwatch. The other bugs are relatively rare but this one is happening nonstop recently.
But converting the strength from his scrap gun to his take a breather made him fun to me

The forums love Roadhog and constantly want buffs, but I totally agree with you. On the field Roadhog is very difficult to deal with… he just doesn’t fit the meta.
Just look at Reinhardt, the forums were bursting with people begging for Rein buffs. Then the meta changed and Rein is almost a must have to win. Game balance is much more complicated than pick rates.

Zarya and Brig are the only reasons why hog isn’t in the Meta currently. But I believe that roadhog can be meta in his current state. The only problem I have with him currently is his hook
