I don’t know if other players are fine with it.
But during the halloween event I realized once more how comfortable night maps are for my eyes. Especially in the late time of the day I really find it really bad to play on maps like Ilios because it’s is so bright.
Nowadays dark modes on monitors and handys are becoming inreasingly popular. So wouldn’t it be fine if the games lightning would be synchronized with the actual day time? That means that at night, there would be night ingame, at sunset there would also be sunset ingame and so on?
I think it could be even an on/off thing in the games options. Visibility in overwatch has never been an issue. Visibility is always perfect due to the art style and the red border that enemy models have. I think people playing with night theme wouldn’t have an advantage or an disadvantage to those who are playing with daythemed visuals
Sorry if my english isn’t that fine because it is not my native language.
Syncing the atmospheric lights with the IRL time of day actually sounds awesome to be honest. I’d like to add that dawn and twilight ambiences would also be cool!
And I get how the brightness can be tiring for the eyes. I guess this bright color palette was a design choice but I agree, seeing softer colors and less brightness could be great every now and then.
Also, your English is fine!

If it helps, you can download blue light filters which change in opacity depending on the time of day. If you can handle looking at an orange-tinted screen, it’s supposedly better for your eyes.
I know these blue light filters and I use them quiet often.
But that’s just not enough. Ilios is still brighter than everything else I can think of.
And even on other maps, I have a problem with the bright skybox. If you’re playing MOBAs or strategy games you don’t have this kind of problem because you only see the ground, which is a lot darker than the sky. And in comparison: If you’re watching a movie you will have some brighter scenes, but most of the time it’s quiet dark if you compare it to a video game.
Another problem with blue light filters is that they make look the game worse. And I enjoy the look of overwatch.
An good example is Civilization 6. In the options you can enable night time.
Win10 has a night light feature and OW can use it too AFAIK.
try that out
i agree, night maps are better and cooler
try one of the filters nvidia offers… it sounds like you have played a lot with the lights turned off in your room and screen turned on without any filter. thats terrible for your eyes. you might actually want to take a break in general and practice some eye exercises and recoup them a bit.

I have several lamps being turned on in the background. And although I’m with AMD I have set a very warm colour temperature and my monitor brightness is quiet low. But nothing, really nothing gives my eyes such a relief like the overwatch halloween event.
I really dont play all day long. But I have to use the computer while working and thus my eyes are already strained when I come home. I’m so glad if I can relax and play overwatch without straining my eyes even more then. And night maps help me a huge lot.
Besides that you shouldn’t be in a bright room late at night because it will make your sleep quality suffer. I know this. And then I want to go for a quick play match at 22:00 and the next map is ILIOS.
strain is caused because certain muscles around your eye are straining harder than others… eye exercise to balance the muscle mass and nice massages to increase blood flow are very beneficial. I would highly suggest reading about different options on how to do this properly.

I’ve already done some things and my eyes have become better recently.
But wouldn’t it be a real quality of life improvement if the ingames lightning would be synced to the real time ?
I mean… for many maps there already are darker themes. Even for Ilios, in the deathmatch game mode it’s got an awesome sunset theme. And yes, I also like the day theme but just not in the evening.
