My opinion on Marvel Rivals (spoiler: I'm less enthusiast)

For me:
open queue → comp queue (i.e select what your team comp is, but you have no control over what the other team can choose) → min 1

I think at this point I can count on 1 hand the amount of games I’ve had with 5-6 dps. I’m like 40-50 hours played. And also if you choose to play a small amount of heroes or just one role in a hero shooter you’re shooting yourself in the foot. 33 heroes I have 4 strategist, 3 vanguards, and 3-4 duelist who I play. Like if you choose to main just one that’s a user error issue.

Oh here we go again. The “I assume they’re bots because I can’t imagine humans having errors” bots aren’t used unless you go play vs AI.

So maybe I’m dumb here. But hasn’t this been true for every game in the history of games. Like the better equipment has always given players an advantage.

To a lesser extent yes. I couldn’t compete in counter strike 1.3 back in 2003 because my computer was some heavy paperweight intel celeron whatever pc and my mouse used the rubber ball for tracking that would build up dirt, making aiming harder.

The controversy with MR is with bad mechanics with low FPS on certain heroes, but everything is working normal at 120fps.

I have now played competitive and… wow, I’m speechless.

At the beginning of every match there is a loading screen, this screen can last… indefinitely…
The first time this happens, I’m scared my computer crashed or something, I’m about to open the task manager and close the program after waiting for 3 minutes… then finally it loads. We play, for a bit. Someone left the match, after a couple of minutes we’re all thrown out of the match. Ok… Let’s start again.
Loading screen… I open the chat and read someone rant “who’s the one with the slow internet connection here???”. It’s definittely not me, I have a super fast internet connection and my loading screen says 100%… I keep waiting, only to see a message saying that “the game failed to load and this person will be punished bla bla bla”. Ok, so if someone has internet issues, the match won’t start ever!
I lost so much time just for this… and it’s not the end, because it happened around 30% of my games.
I realize I’ve just started playing competitive and I was bronze 3 (now bronze 1 after a few games) and probably I’m matched with kids or the worst players, since it’s the end of the season. But please, this is pathetic.

Because someone is on a potato PC or connection and the game is still loading for them. League of Legends goes through the same thing.

Not really Netease’s fault you didn’t understand what was happening even though there’s a progress bar to show you for each person…

Probably crashed. Probably the potato that took forever to load in the first place.

People have to load first or it will cancel the match. Is this a problem for you?

You’re starting off in the lowest level of comp - also the level with the most potato players with the most potato setups. I’ve got over 200+ matches in comp played and I’ve run into this all of maybe 3 times?

While I fundamentally want to agree with you, Rivals hasn’t had a single balance patch yet. It feels way too early to make this call one way or the other.

IMO both games can coexist just fine - as others have pointed out, LoL and DotA 2 have been able to coexist for years.

In Rivals, you can literally do more damage with certains heroes/abilities if your framerate is higher. It’s a bug and will apparently be fixed in Season 1.

I don’t think you understand the actual problem. Sounds like you just heard someone say it without actually looking into whats really going on.

People with 30 or lower fps get screwed. People above 120 fps get bonuses. Yes it’s a problem but that doesn’t mean the game can’t be taken seriously. Anyone taking the game seriously very likely has over 120 fps anyway. Below 30 has to be pretty rare.

Need I remind you of OW2s launch problems? By season 2 we were literally mixing golds and GMs together in competitive. Seasons 3 and 4 had boosting bugs that would rank people up for losing. There’s posts here with screenshots of people moving from gold to diamond with 20% win rates. That’s far more game breaking than what’s going on in MR.

It really ain’t rigged lol
You aren’t against teams with players and bots, only bots, and it’s only in QP.

So they are rigging qp games to give players morale boosting wins. Which is what I said.

Which is utterly gross engagement bases tactics and should be called out for what it is.

They’ve done a lot right so far. But this is a big wrong.
