I feel like most low elo supports are enraged by the brig nerfs here for whatever reason. brig was absolutely busted, get over it. alot of people here also seem to claim that blizzard hates supports, which is just total bs. the game is being balanced to a direction where higher skill supports get higher value than lower skill supports, as it should be.
the reason brig was broken was that she literally did everything. armor pack the dps who are going on a flank, still be able to have the most efficient methods of peeling in the game for your other support. getting rid of armor is good because this makes it so that she cant pocket both dps and still peel at the same time, thats absurd and absolutely trashes the competitive integrity of the game.
were the nerfs overkill? i think that the shield regeneration nerfs were unnecessary and dont really contribute to anything, however the extra shield hp is surprisingly effective in making her playstyle more aggressive and higher skill ceiling in terms of what kind of paths you can create to still keep inspire up etc. i played her for a couple hours in experimental and honestly she felt just fine (this may not be the case if i were matched up in games around my skill level but eh, brig is really not a hero where being good shows a massive difference)
also please stop saying supports are trash, theyre one of the highest impact heroes rn if played skillfully enough and communicated correctly. rather than blaming the role being bad look for your own gameplay mistakes and improve!

I agree so much, however with this current changes I feel like there’s still a bit of room for a small buff on brig, what if the duration of her armor on her ult got increased? perhaps even remove the limited duration since you know, it’s an ult and targets now can’t magically gain armor anymore?
or perhaps an increased charging rate for repair packs, that way the duration of it matches the regeneration rate and you could effectively heal forever if timed correctly ?
5s cooldown between shield breaks is really the big killer. Its same as Rein and Sigma when theirs breaks,
except Brig doesn’t have nearly the same healthpool as them to play around with, not to mention she doesn’t have Sigma’s absorb ability, rein’s charge as an escape, or even a mobility period
I couldn’t give a toss about the changes to repair pack, it’s the unnecessary shield nerfs that bother me. Gutting a character to “shake up the meta” is never the solution, no matter who that character may be.
yeah i agree with this to an extent! even though the extra hp allows for a more aggro playstyle i feel like they want to make it more punishable to not manage such a low hp shield to perfection which i do find sort of odd considering the heros intended purposes. i still think brig definitely has a role as a sort of melee zen with nice peeling instead of discord orb and it will be run in anti-dive comps still. but yeah you do make a fair point!
But why? 120 HP over 2 seconds is still 120 HP over 2 seconds, it’s still going to be more effective on squishy heroes than it is on tanks. The overheal may be gone, but it’s not like Brigitte can’t pocket DPS anymore.
The only thing this changes is that Brig can’t counter flankers, specifically Tracer, with armor anymore, which is what she’s supposed to do. She’s not a physical threat, and now she can’t protect her supports with armor.
This is very wrong. I’m not good at current Brig by any means, because I can’t stay alive as her. But judging by the 90 minutes you have on her and your current winrate with her, neither are you. Being good with Brig does show a massive difference, so a GM who isn’t probably doesn’t have the best frame of reference to say “this isn’t a big deal.”
oh my current winrate on brig? i dont play brig in comp only swap to her if it looks like the game is already lost. i do however play her pretty much exclusively in 4.4 scrims pretty much exclusively and have done so for maybe a month or so. brig defo still has the most effective peel out of all supports and i do not think this will enable flankers more as brig is what already enabled them. feel free to change my mind on what they couldve done better though!
that is not true, she can still counter flankers by pre-healing the flanker’s target, you see, what changed here is that the brig player now has to think about their repair pack usage a lot more than just preemptively throwing it in case of flanking, that’s exactly what brig needed, a higher game sense requirement
She can’t pocket them nearly as well as she used to.
A 200hp tracer is a lot better than a 150hp tracer that’s getting healed
An armoured tracer can’t be killed by:
Flash + headshot
Ashe headshot
Mei headshot
Helix rocket + punch
Hanzo arrow + punch
Widow bodyshot + punch
Sigma rock + primary fire
an extra 50hp also creates new breakpoints for every squishy in the game
Eh depends because support balancing in general has been pretty garbage.
They always go overboard on the nerfs when trying to shift the meta so then we’re back to square one with only a select few supports being viable, and waiting another year for them to finally fix the other supports back up only to nerf the others down into the gutter again.
The problem is, as Taiga said, Brig doesn’t really have the health pool to justify such a heavy-handed nerf. No shield = no shield bash. Without shield bash, you can’t reposition quickly. Shield Bash is already on a 7s Cooldown and deals a measly 5 damage.
If the experimental changes go through, there’ll be absolutely no reason to run Brig. Her shield getting an extra 50hp should’ve been the trade-off for removing armour overheal from repair pack. The shield regen nerf and the cooldown on shield breakage are completely unnecessary.
oh she will definitely see play if you want to run anti dive with zen for discord, as her peeling is still so very strong, however brig zen is not something commonly seen on ladder. on ladder she will primarily be run for niche gameplay, and i feel like its justifiable to have niche heroes for ladder, where creative gameplay is needed to get max value (reaper for example)
We really don’t have enough heroes in the role to justify niche characters. Things already get stale, more so when the unique aspects of characters are getting removed and/or majorly reduced.

I think we should criticize how Blizzard is and has been handling the role, clearly they are having great difficulty.
there is, stop playing it. and drop your rank. if you care so much about win, you cant have much fun, just like those owl players who play goats even they hate it.
i think there is still a fine line between “i play to win” and “i play to have fun”
