I used to love this game. I had an old account from 2016, but it got perma banned for “hacking.” However, I have fing known the consequences for cheating/hacking in this game for years now. But, for ambiguous reasons, Blizzard has deemed my old account banned for hacking without any elaboration. The “evidence has been reviewed” and yet the reality is that I never have fing cheated or hacked in this game, but I am not allowed to defend myself and I cannot reach out to anyone. All the money and passion I had invested in this game was just gone in an instant. I wanted to believe in this game because it had a lot of potential. Turns out this whole thing is a swindle. So, here I am with a smurf account, not doing anything different, not getting banned, and just realizing this whole game and company is a waste of time. Streamers, I hope you leave this crapshow and try to find a company that actually cares about their product and company and not seek rationale for defending theives.
got hacked or running other apps in the background ?
Why not?
Even if they say they’re not going to respond anymore, you can keep submitting tickets. What are they gonna do? delete your banned account?
Their response was: NOTICE OF ACCOUNT CLOSURE
Greetings,
Account: {email]
Account Action: Account Closure - Overwatch Account
Offense: Unauthorized Cheat Programs (“hacks”)
Recent activity on this account shows the use of an unauthorized cheat program, also known as a “hack”, which harms the intended player experience.
The account holder is responsible for all activity on the account. We issue suspensions and closures to protect our players and our service in accordance with our Blizzard EULA:
We don’t take this decision lightly.
Our team issued this closure after a careful review of relevant evidence. Our support staff will not overturn these closures and may not respond to appeals. For more information, see our article:
Thank you for your time and understanding in this matter.
Regards,
I get they’re SAYING they’re doing that. But you can still send in tickets. You literally have nothing to lose at this point.
My brother works in cyber security and most likely had a “bad” program installed. I was house sitting for him and logged onto his computer. However, at the time, there was no program running. No gameplay was affected. Nothing happened. Yet, I was banned. Ironically, none of my brother’s accounts have been banned.
seems like a bad luck to you, background check is not always on but you just happened to be “busted” or it’s running like way back you have to close in task manager? idk
still, try to summint a ticker since you got nothing to lose
I don’t know about that man…
I’ve had IDA Pro, Cheat Engine, & a few other things I won’t mention open/running in the background & the most that has ever happened was my game close off so unless they changed something since I’m not too sure about being false flagged for background software/tools.
I never had any of these tools open for the purpose of targeting Overwatch 2 but I often work with reverse engineering in my free time & play Overwatch in my spare/frustration times & nothing I’ve ever had open has triggered a false ban against my account, maybe it’s more likely you’ve been mass reported for either playing too well or genuinely cheating
I appreciate what you are saying, but I have tried. I feel if I KEEP trying it would lead to Einstein’s definition of insanity.
Would be interesting if they actually provided ANY detail apart from a vague explanation when you get suspended/penalized, but my guess is if you REALLY didn’t do anything you probably got banned based on reports ~ especially if you are a Widowmaker / hit scan player.
Heard of people getting communication banned from mass reports so nothing would surprise me
It was the only thing I could think of being reported for. And I bet you that I can guess the moment I got reported. There was a phara on shambali second point that I knew was about to round the corner and I pinned the daylights out of them out of the air and they were MAD spamming in chat calling me lucky. Other than that moment, i have no idea what I could have been reported for.
I’m not a great player, but I’m not horrible either. If you were to look at my old profile, I was a QP warrior tbh. What satisfaction is to be found with cheating in QP? At this point, there is so much more I could be doing than playing OW. I liked the skins I have collected over the years and there was NO REASON TO CHEAT. To suggest I was cheating would mean I was an idiot to take the risk knowing I could lose the account - of which I would agree then
I would just make a new account & move on to be honest, if you spent money on skins I’m sorry for your loss but the game was never worth spending money on to begin with, the most I’ve bought is the pass when they released essentially pay to play new characters which they seem to have stopped doing.
The state of this game is awful & mostly revolves around report system for penalties which can be easily abused, I question every day why I play it but then I remember most games out right now just aren’t fun or take too much time invested I only play in between coding/reversal sessions
I have never been banned on my old account (or new one), for anything. Ever. No communication suspensions or anything, whether you believe that is up to you, I’m but a random internet stranger, no? This was random and unexpected from my end. And tbh I feel slighted, swindeled, and kinda sad. But you are right. Especially in the context of getting rid of the real hackers (and repeated offenders), there is not a whole lot of information you can reveal with the “proof” that you have, because that would give offenders info to avoid getting caught.
You’re right though, getting the old account is probably a lost cause. However, I do reserve the right to complain as a once “faithful” customer.
Unrelated to cheating ban but I get communication banned/suspended all the time and they don’t even tell me what I actually said & I haven’t really been using vulgar language although I’ve tossed a few jokes in chat, if you were banned for cheating surely they should provide some context;
- the hero you were playing
- what was found running on your computer (if you were banned by their poor ‘anti cheat’ system)
But they don’t like to provide context for penalties period. It’s already proven by the fact you can get communication banned for text chat but they can’t do so much as provide the statement you were banned for in the email, why? Not because they can’t but simply because they do not care, hence why the mission to get your account back is probably a lost cause.
Hey, I hope it all turns out for the better if that helps. I understand the feel of futility though.

I appreciate that Krotoan. I don’t want to take away your experience of the game either. I’m just… pissed and kinda sad to lose it like this. Good luck with your future games. I hope you continue to make tanks rage with Mei (if that is your main lol).
