My game wont go higher than 20 fps, help :') (more info in description)

Not only that, but it’ll drop down to 3 fps when I move my mouse too fast.

I did all the things the support article told me to do and I uninstalled the latest Nvidia drivers and installed the ones from September.

I’m at such a loss right now. If it helps:

Just set up my first desktop yesterday
Specs: (sorry if it’s disorganized, not too sure what to include or exclude)

CPU: Intel Core-i7

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370P

Video Card: GTX 1060

RAM: 16GB

i seem to have the same problem, i also have an i7 and gtx geforce 1060. please help

Hey there,

A few different possible reasons for this come to mind. It may be that your system is defaulting to the integrated GPU rather than the more powerful discrete Nvidia card, or the monitor is plugged into the motherboard instead of the discrete. I’d recommend double checking both by referring to the image linked, and running through the following steps.

  1. Right click the desktop.
  2. Click NVIDIA Control Panel.
  3. Select 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings.
  4. Locate CUDA - GPUs.
  5. Check the box to only use the Nvidia card, unchecking all others.
  6. Scroll down to Power management mode.
  7. Click where it says Adaptive and change it to Prefer maximum performance.

same here, i went through the commented process and it’s still like that

Alright, I made sure my monitor was plugged in correctly and I did all the steps following. Unfortunately, it helped for about 3 seconds with the frames skyrocketing to 150 then back down to 12!

Through out the steps, the only box that was there and checked was the video card too. Would you happen to have any other suggestions for this? :’)

Sorry, I misclicked and deleted my comment somehow

I am also experiencing the same issue with my game. I have The same exact specs as @turdle on my laptop. My game sits at 15 fps in the menu and when I move the mouse it drops to 3-5 fps. I haven’t touch anything and played the game last night at a steady 60 fps. The troubleshooting process posted has not helped.
