She was busted in 6v6 but at least could be worked around given the extra space; in 5v5 she was a monster that needed to be stopped. And in return she got a slap on the wrist, so meh.

Until you realize less Widows mean more Hanzos. A hero who one-shots more frequently than Widow.
Its a classic example of Chestertonâs fence.

The issue OW2 has with snipers is less to do with the one shots themselves and alot more to do with bad map design that gives snipers free reign without any way to assault the position logically. maps have long flank routes or just funnels on some parts of maps.

I have never heard of Chestertonâs fence before, but I am so glad to hear about it now. This is exactly the issue the Overwatch community faces: they want changes to things, but they donât even know why the thing is there in the first place.
Think about Armor packs for example. They didnât work well against burst damage, but they did help a little (extra health always will). They could have been reworked in order to protect against burst damage better but people begged for it to be removed entirely. A counter to burst damage. Removed. In the name of making the game fun.
And where did it lead us? To a game where burst damage (and damage in general, actually) is extremely high. And for that reason, healing has to be really high, and no oneâs happy. And thatâs just one of many examples I could bring up.
Really, Overwatch is a game ruined by its community and developers working together to ensure the game is as bad as possible.
And the fact that the community objectively begged for sniper counters to be removed. Thatâs a fact, you know, not my opinion.

no clue why people are flagging the thread. But tbh. players are frustrated with the game and I can see why people are fedup.
I have 1,100 hours on WM. The âheroâ does not really fit with the cast in this game and that is why people want the character fully changed or deleted from the game.
Widow players kinda brought it on themselves because they waste time in a match DUELING and thats it. When someone plays widow., 8 times out of 10. ANother person jumps to play widowmaker on the other team and they âduelâ which essentially brings no real value to the game.
Im all for a rework. Overwatch has some REALLY bad problems, that are not making this game good at all. If we take the awful match maker out of the picture and talk about the cast of offending heroes
- Widowmaker comes in at #1.
- Moira comes in at #2.
- hanzo at #3
With those 3 right now, being in a spot that makes the game very unpleasant to play.
At this point. I think Hanzo and Widow should both receive a very heavy penalty of changes. ( Yes, call me a fan of the character but an enemy at the same time) I see why people are not happy and that is the excessive 1-shots in this game that need to go.
WM really will need to be dialed back to an SMG class with the rifle being very specialized and have lesser value. While hanzo needs to have an over-all crit reduction so it becomes background damage.
Of course, we all know that people wont agree. but that is just observing this game since 2017.

Itâs the constant ruining of heroes that has been killing this game ever since they ruined Mercy way back when.

Iâm sympathetic. One shofs might be slightly annoying (I mean I donât even find them annoying but some thin skinned people might) that doesnât mean we should ruin the whole game for Hanzo and Widow players the same way we have ruined it for Hog and Mei and other playerss.

Well then good thing itâs not ruined for widow players, she is still a good hero.
The places she isnât fantastic is on traditional sniper maps like Havana which have long sight lines. Given her recent nerfs, she still maintains a foothold in many maps with medium sight lines. Sheâs simply losing traction on some of the other maps.

I hate one shot heroes in every game, but when I first started playing OW- I HATED Widowmaker with a passion. She was the reason why I picked up Sombra and mained her till crossplay came. I made it my mission to make every Widowmaker I ran into, not to be able to play. I constantly harassed them all match not caring if my team won or not. The problem with one shot heroes in OW is the ignorance & toxicity of the community. Smurfs would come in and DECIMATE low level teams with Widow & Hanzo. And to top things off, teammates would RARELY apply pressure to one shots. You would think they would get tired of being killed by the same character for the 4th time in a row and try to challenge her. What do they do instead? Ragequit the match.
